SBS do not play nice with sector overload.

Yeah, that was hilarious. Felt a bit cheap, because there is literally no defense to it, but whatever, don't go tac =P

I woulda liked to have seen different factions w/ numbers that massive, but oh well. A team as IC might have been awesome....

Lag was terrible for me normally on any server I get 100-199 but on the Anniversary Server it went anywhere from 100 to 300+. Still could kill people though, and that map was definitely small enough for a faction besdies BIOS. IC econ would be hella slow though with all that backtracking.

In large games both team inevitably go Tac. Spidey vs aarm Series anyone? /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

GG, wasn't too bad of a game but I would say 1/4 PU games would've been more fun.

Criticism: Very, very disorganised with no preset commanders which caused absolute chaos at the beginning and there should've been players assigned to team with the YvB system I remember from sometime back.
Honestly the next Anniversary Game have everything preset, the teams, commanders and map/settings BEFORE the day, it would save at least 15 minutes of bitching. I'm sure PM'ing some of the more well known commanders or making a thread for them to reply in wouldn't be too hard now would it?

However after that the server ran fine until about 2:20 when I dropped and couldn't get back in due to droppage and getting 150+ people to shut the $#@! up is quite a tough job, good call on the TS thing but the @Allegs were a bit too zealous. Chill out, periodic warnings of "Please keep typing to a minimum" would have worked just as well, if not better than "STFU" or "SHUT UP OR GET BANNED".

Sigh.

And it was upsetting to see a few people get booted, but nevertheless good job commanders for organising the teams. Good job too to the sub-commanders such as GooeyFish who berated the team on Charlie Wing. I did tell him to "Shut the hell up" and "Where's my money" but pretty cool.

Yeah, the lag was 75-150 for me, so not too bad, and I never dropped once /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> .

Good Job, screaming down the charlie wing chat guitar /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> .

Also, fantastic job ozzy, I did not envy you in the least, and you did fantastically well /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> .

Some screenshots...

This is at the start of the game, about 3 mins in, when we had about 150 players. LOTS of people were coming and dropping, and the noise was unbelievable, as was the sector map.

This was taken a short while after we blew their sup. After that, we galved most of their minor bases away, leaving them with just a tac and garrison in their home, and a tele/ref above their home. They eventually built a SY as well.

Using sector overload against SBs. /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" /> This only happened twice in the game, I think.

http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/4642/poddedln1.png
7 kills, 22 ejects. /sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> This is near the end of the game, when they lost their tac to a bomber rush from, I think, all 3 alephs. They lost their garrison previously when they were all busy with a TP2 drop for SBs (that failed to do anything useful because they all died to sector overload...).

During the very last stages, there were corvettes and a devastator in the enemy home. This is the aftermath of us sending a fighter wave in to dispatch of them.

Endgame scores. I was, hm, somewhere around #100. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

Server wise i noticed the following things :

- server was pretty damn stable except :
* peeps had problems joining, sometimes it took 20 secs before you finally got on the team from the lobby and then you immediately got kicked to lobby again.
* sector overload needs to be removed (it $#@!s up SB and tp2 runs)
* several sound files need to be removed (all the files which relate to players dropping/joining/sector overload, etc. anything that gets repeated every second in large games)

Non server related :
* reduce the size of ews icon both on f3 and in normal view (or perhaps a special view which is like "all" except without displaying probes) sometimes you couldn't see anything but probes and couldn't hit/select @#(! because of the clutter.

@Tiger
The server did fine, I only dropped ones, but thats prolly because i stressed the server, something like this scenario: Inbase+On turr+F3 view in enemy sector with server overlay error(seeing 2 sector's at ones) and finally launching into a sector overload = CTD.

Otherwise it was only at start the server was stressed my lag 120.. then it settled at 70-80.
I had no problem at all. After my only CDT it took me normal time to get into the game.

Comment to large games. The sector overload must be modified, there is a huge exploit in probing like crazy so only a few(20) players cause a sector overload.
Perhaps an extra Radar option, with User Choice?

Have a nice day

The server was ok, about 110 lag so not as good as Planet or Thal for me.

I crashed out at about 25-30 mins and was unable to rejoin the game. I'm guessing that this was because I'm Euro based as other Euro's had the same issue.

Next year I think we should have seperate Euro and US games as they should both be 100+ players in size, which is big but still managable. Plus I'd get to play on a low lag server /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

I'd like to try StripeServe at a more normal time to get an idea of what the lag will be like for us Euros. Tentatively it looks like it's not as good as the other US based servers although better than FTX.

It was a kickass game until yellow sup blew.

Game started out with some chicken racing for comms, ozzy and spidey loses and herds the pigs well. Auto balance button does finally find its use.

Spidey does not heed onemanbuckets call to start tp1 asap but supplies kickass tech that puts blues miners and a con or two in allegiance heaven. Ozzy does start tp1/tp2 asap and second tp2 drop (though pretty crappily executed) succeeds in killing yellow sup, moments before the fat cat yellow team is about to unleash screaming tp2 rage (drops were set up).

When SBS are impossible to use because of sector overload cheese the game becomes lamer than theserbs last birthday party (where only two mutes and a sad clown show up and only non alcoholic beer was avalible) and onemanbucket writes dirty words with probes in spideys overcrowded home sector. "ASS" and "ME" in meecrob. Rock&roll!

I vote next big game is played as an artifact run!
