What do you guys think of repair drones?

They would be deployabe, SINGLE use, 'constructors' with different price levels for how much they repair. They could either only repair hull damage or possibly also augment/recharge base shields (and thus be effective against HTTs).

Launch it, target a damaged base, and it repairs the base.
You could even have one sitting outside of a base ready to go.
The attacking enemy would have to attack the base and the repair
drone for the attack to be successful.

I guess this would be pretty similar to the invul 'base shield' in practice.

Make them small and fast and you can send them on bomber runs /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />

wouldn't they be better suitted to be flying after cap ships then? mostly the really slow ones. if nix was able to be repaired, then it would be ideal.

Yeah, just copy in the drone targeting, where it shoots at the closest friendly instead of enemy. Although I'd give it nan2, and enough energy so that it would do the same number of shots as a regular drone; at which point it goes poof just like a regular drone does when out of ammo/time

Or necro-bump???

I think this idea is quite cool. If this gets implemented it will dawn the new age of a new VC, "Shoot the repair drone!"
