Batman suggested this in another thread, so I thought it might be nice to give the new players to put themselves up for adoption. Any vet can come here then and pick one up and teach em.

Just need some newer players now /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Quick Idea: Some basic rules to keep this clean
-------------------------------------------------------
1. Newbies, post here only once. A veteran player will respond to your post in this thread to indicate his/her interest in helping you, and will also contact VIA Pm.
2. Do not use this thread for discussion, a separate thread can be made if needed.
3. Dont be shy ^.-
4. Please state the hours of day that you will be playing the game, with your appropriate timezone marker.

These rules are subject to change in order to make this system more easily used. You may want to check back at later times.

I don't want that time to be a @#(!-storm of hate and schadenfreude.

MW, it'd be well worth the newbie stating what hours they play so vets can pick a newbie that they'll actually see in game.

This is a decent idea. As a public offering, I'd rather see this tied to the existing cadet program than as an alternative training choice.

not ties, as an addition, not an alternative.

chances are a vet who adopts a non-cadet will tell them to join @cadet anyway.

also its probably best to adopt the newbie in game so you can see if they are they type who listen. though i guess you could post here once you have chosen them. i tried to adopt one a few weeks ago, but i haven't seen him since (perhaps because i don't play enough?)

perhaps it could be a little more open ended. Such as making your login like Sindertone@wing - wing meaning any noob should look for and attach to a "wing" person. This way you don't have to keep track of when and where your adoptee is, a noob can just look for any "wing" ingame and be assured that this person is there to help them along.
This seems like a good idea because in four months I've only been asked to be a wingman twice despite all the encouragement for the idea in cadet.

I want Spidycw as my mentor =P

I am a once vet (4, 5 years ago?) who is just returning. When MS stopped supporting Alleg and it went to the players, I was able to play for awhile. Eventually using (insert name of "LAN" program here) would not work for me, and then at the university, they block a lot of the ports, and so I couldnt play here. Until the new version came out! (Thanks a lot btw, forgot how much I used to love this game).

But damn, the game has changed. Last I was here Belt and Rix were brand new! Who are these other people?!

Anyways, lot to relearn, but it's coming back quick enough. Will just need to find a quiet place to remember how to comm again...eventually.

Hello again, Alleg!

I'm not sure what you are saying. Did you dis-like my suggestion or were you correcting it? Either way is fine. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

He means it won't be directly tied to the cadet program, nor an alternative to it. It just something extra cadets can participate in if they so desire.

This sounds like a great idea. I'm game for taking on a few cadets if they want. I play most nights and pretty much all weekend. I would prefer cadets who use teamspeak, and play quite a bit however.

Apparently a California "cabin" is any place more than 4 blocks from a McDonalds.
