Hello /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I played alleg for months, i scored 1, then 2, to 5 but now i'm (0)...
That may not be a problem if few players/commanders accept newbies... But a lot of commanders dont accept players with that score...
For example : this morning I cant play Allegiance cause I'm (0).

I know you stats problems... but now its more than that cause few people can't play at all... people who played allegiance for months !

It's weird that you ended up with a (0). I've noticed that there were far more (0)s than any other numbers under (10). Is something wrong?.

I suspect it's because new players get an ELO of 1500 and a rank modifier of -15. So if they play a few games and lose their ELO will drop but the modifier stays in place leaving (0) as the default lowest rank.

Well that should be fixed... Hey Pook why not give them 700 ELO and a time released rank modifier... I remember when I was a noob: the noob number stayed until you logged a certain number of individual games... it worked pretty well bc by time I was 8 I really was a sucky player who just knew enough to keep up (and still am /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> )

I would like to be able to differentiate between a 0 that is going to hurt my team and a 0 that is going to be a placeholder...

even if you keep 1500 ELO make the -15 change to -14 and so on til it is -8 and then it canjust be removed...

Would this be hard to do?

You need to start all players at 1500 ELO points to keep the system at somewhere near 0 sum. If you start new players with less than 1500 then the mid point of the system will moved to a lower value and everyone's ELO will drop slightly.

I'm not sure how the newbie modifier is working at the moment, I think Tiger said that it started at -15 and then dropped a notch once a month. But if the newbie has lost more than 100 ELO in that thime then they will remain a (0). I may well be wrong on this though so don't take it as the truth until it's confirmed.

Right now players get;

-15 to their rank when they start
-7 after 6 months
-0 after 12 months

iirc

I'd love a more staggered approach.

0 months -15 rank
1 months -14 rank
2 months -13 rank
3 months -12 rank
4 months -10 rank
5 months -9 rank
6 months -8 rank
7 months -7 rank
8 months -5 rank
9 months -4 rank
10 months -3 rank
11 months -2 rank
12 months -1 rank

Or better yet, add age to a maximum of +15 to the rank penalty.

That's just my suggestion, whatever works for you guys. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

it's already working that way...

Basically it starts at -15, and goes up by 1 for every 25 days old your account is.

I'll think about having the newbie modifier "float" with the ELO score to prevent the "everlasting 0" problem as newbies' age modifier increases but ELO decreases.
