minigun wrote:QUOTE (minigun @ Feb 16 2019, 05:34 AM) I look at it differently. I'll try an analogy here. P1 runs for office somewhere, gets elected becouse of all the things p1 promises to do. Then p1's first bill doesn't even make it to committee. second thing p1 does doesn't get the required votes and dies. Then p1 votes opposite of what p1's constituents believe in becouse p1 owes a favor to another politician. P1 ends up doing about 10% of what p1's constituents want. Right or wrong trump is trying to smash thru all the road blocks to do what he promised. Maybe pelosi will do the same with gun control in 2021.
Wow.
I'll try an analogy here for you:
Suppose a politician runs on 10 promises. Suppose that politician's constituents are like "well, I dunno about these promises, but I don't like the other person, and some of the promises are ok I guess." Then suppose the politician is like "Ok this specific promise is the one that's most important to me." Then suppose that as a result, that politician gets absolutely trounced in an election, but because of a quirk of the system isn't removed from office. Then suppose the politician says "well no one wants this but I promised it so what I'm going to do is use extraconstitutional powers that my office shouldn't have to force this issue in the first place."
Then suppose a moron on a forum is like "actually this is exactly how democracy is supposed to work."

I guess if I'm a moron and trump is a moron, then Nancy polosi is a moron also, she said the democrats are going to do the same thing for gun control. All these morons except p1. You may be the only non moron on the planet...congratulations

My favorite part of this conversation, minigun, is how you are so utterly and completely deluded into accepting authoritarian regimes that you can't even begin to fathom that I'm not ok with declarations of "national emergencies" to try and fix legislative failures, even when those legislative failures are things that I believe need to be fixed desperately and immediately.
If you want to live under a King, then I recommend moving to Thailand. They'll do what you want: punish anyone for insufficient boot-licking and just generally have some ruling figurehead who dictates how you must live your life.
You missed my point. I said right or wrong trump is trying to fulfill his promise. My view is he's wrong doing it this way but I like his drive to get what he's promised done. I guess my analogy was to point out he's not a politician but a businessman trying to get what he wants. Don't worry it'll be back to the same old same old in 2020. Half the country will get. Obama care back and the other half will be angry. You'll have climate control and we'll be paying $4.00 for a gallon of gas.

Just so you know.
The u.s. is approaching energy independence. I think its good for a few reasons. We don't have to rely on the middle east for oil. We don't have to send troops their to protect any assets from numerous religious wars. We can move away from coal to natural gas. We can also be an exporter of oil and Lng. If the "new green deal" happens then I'm not sure what effect that would have.

So there is no reason for a "NGD", just of pushing the other markets to buy nore US oil/LNG?
Maybe you should watch Occupied on Netflix.

I don't think it's bad to have competition. If you want to just rely on Russia for your oil and gas then what happens if they shut off the gas? At least Europe would have other options.
