An MS senator openly said to someone who has no ties to law enforcement that if this rancher invited her to a hanging she'd be in the front row.

She is talking about lynching.

She is saying that if this man said to her, "Hey, my community is going to lynch someone," she would be there in the front row.

Who do you think Mississippi lynches.

If you are not a racist piece of @#(!, how on earth do you justify voting for her?

yeah, I don't think that is a fair reading of her words.
She says : 'I would fight a {unintelligible - circular saw? } for him; if he invited me to a public hanging I would be in the front row'
By which she means, I would do anything for this guy, even accompany him to a public hanging, which presumably she would enjoy even less than fighting whatever it is she's saying she'll fight.
Weird choice of words, but it sounds like a local idiom referring to official executions, not necessarily lynchings (which are usually not public but invitation-only affairs). I would not pick this hill to die on if I were an American liberal.

Some combination of "MAGA", "Deep State", and Dems-are-pedophiles conspiracy theories in public. In private, "those uppity negros".

I think the craziest thing is that it's not just limited to rural MS. That racism to some degree I understand. For years the political establishment in those areas has kept poor whites at bay by promising to hold them at least above poor blacks. And since most of those people have never seen an immigrant, they're an easy boogeyman. My gf's family, on the other hand, comes from SoCal but is part of the old money there, and I guess that's enough for her dad to be the full spectrum: Racist, misogynist, homophobic, transphobic, whatever you can think of he hates it. And he can somehow hold those opinions while proudly having a daughter at UC Berkeley and absolutely wanting the world for her. It's simultaneously impressive and absolutely horrifying.

This election has been a new experience for me because I'm part of one of those oppressed classes now (trans), and if Republicans had kept the house I probably would have had to flee the country. Bay Area is nice, but if the US gov redefines gender as based on chromosomes I'm basically dead. So yeah, three cheers for $#@!ing gridlock.

Also something most people forgotten about this Mueller stuff: Dems have subpoena power now. I think regardless of what part of the political spectrum you're on we can all agree that the Trump admin has more than a few bodies (tax returns) they'd like to see buried. Dems now have a shovel, so it's gonna be a wild couple of years.

So now the vendetta to the Federal Government may continue, like the last 3 decades or so, because the Feds are evil, corrupt and nosy. Federal Taxes should be as close to zero as possible.

But who is going to fix the holes in the roads?

When I came into this thread I thought p1 had hidden her gender from the community back then the same way I hid my age. Or that I was just really dense and missed it.
