I'm happy to share with you a very early alpha of my bot com project. Say hello to WOPR!


Note: Actual BackTrak not shown. This is just a model.


You can see it in action on East2 (Look for SuperBotMatch9000)

So far it will scout the map, mine with miners expand with cons and build tech all the way to endgame tech.

Scouts
- Will work as a team in a sector to efficiently find aelphs.
- After the map is complete, they just wander around eyeing things.

Miners
- Attempt to mine safest sectors first becoming more daring as time goes on.

Commander
- Builds cons in advantageous areas, but is not afraid to put down a spidey style DM sector if it feels like it.
- Sometimes wanders cons in odd paths just because.
- Picks spots for miners to mine based on base positions
- Selects primary and secondary techs based on rock availability

There's no bot on bot combat just yet, I wanted to see what you guys thought of the progress so far. Right now, the goal is to make a fun game for the humans, which means "Get to the good tech, and let the humans end the game."

Next:
- Con and Miner D.


Games will run until someone wins, or 2 hours elapses after which Wopr recycles itself. Mods and Devs (Wearing your tags!) can use #resign to end a game in case things get squirrely.

I need some help with these tech paths. I'm looking for a fun mix of tech that won't take an hour to research, my current choices feel really pokey, but I've never been a good commander, so not really sure what the right build order should be.

Wow! You rock! It would be fun to have a separate competition for tweaked AI bots. Which bot will dominated the human team?

Looks like there is a bug in the game restart cycle, it's currently down... :(

Edit: It's back up! (as long as I leave my test box logged into it... :P )

Kap found the first bug, Tac path got jammed trying to build an enh fig... copy / paste error! I'm sure there are more... :)

Just played a round. Killed the enemy tech base + garr and all the bots left after the game ended.
Also the scouts tend to ram rocks once in a while, but that's not a big deal.
