I'll begin by apologising for ranting a bit on Discord.
I'll immediately de-value my apology by insisting this is partly because we are using discord instead of the forum as a primary channel of communication.

My goal:
I want to be able to approach these three youtubers and get them to make at least one video about Allegiance:
Kirk Fickert is a small time (2700 subs) flight sim guy who spends a lot of time criticising Elite Dangerous. (very accurately and in great detail)ObsidianAnt (100k subs) does only space games, specifically very pretty ones. His main thing is Elite.Scott Manley is a space nut with 650k subs. He plays space games, like hardcore stuff and space science. All three would enjoy being introduced to Allegiance, enjoy making an Alleg video and will bring in a lot of people and of good quality too.
(FYI I think there is an excellent pool for recruitment among people like me who are disappointed with Elite)
(There are other youtubers, those are just my free favs)

Why can't I go to them now?

Obviously the game is not presentable right now.
I know, it's not a nice thing to say but it's true.
No one is to blame except father Time.

What are you going to do about it?

Objective: get the game to the point I can achieve the aforementioned goal
First I'll say I think this is an very good objective in the sense it is very clear, unlike any objective like "make the game better and bring in more people" which is a commendable but very vague proposition.
I also think it's a goal that can be achieved in a short amount of time.

But HOW are you going to do it?
First, what I have been doing so far:
I ranted a bit.Together with Bunny we made a new F1 keymap help screen which should go live very very soon.We have a draft of an F1 tutorial which could give the same info given in the horrid training but in good way. This will take a bit longer to get into the game.I have been talking about the HD textures. At the same time LANS and I suggested an Alleg commanding schedule.I have also in the past made three mods which will help newbies which unfortunately I have to re-make but it's not a big deal:
Improved hit registration sprite-things. Makes it so the hits are not absurdly smaller than your bullets are.
Reduced damage smoke so that ships do not turn into a white blob which obscures everything.
Secret Steel Fury reticle that is not confusing and in fact helpful.

This is not an action plan, but thw work so far has helped me understand how I should act.

My insight has been that I can't force myself into every aspect and hope my interference helps.

Action plan:
I will pick several problem areas on the way to the objective I have defined and will tackle each area for a week (ten days).

I think an easily solved problem is to add all the HD textures and stuff to the basic Steam install.
So easy I'm not focusing on it yet.

My focus for now will be community and public relations.

Now my niece has arrived and the rest will follow shortly for dinner so I will elaborate later.

Coming soon:

I like the idea of trying to get these guys to broadcast a game of Allegiance to their followers once it is "fixed".
My only concern is what if they don't like the game and end up trashing it in their video?

If they do one live it will not have many viewers and it will be guided by one of us, or should be.
I should have made it clear they are not streamers primarily.
Their value is in curated content.

All three are very nice people who I seriously doubt would do anything negative.

I recommend watching all of them for different types of content.

Fickert's did a whole series like six hours just reading the original design doc for Elite and comparing it to what we actually got. Very interesting.
He's a GIS expert BTW. <- useless trivia.

Ant is crazy nice. Does just nice positive videos, he could barely say anything bad about No Man's Sky FFS.

Manley is a space nerd, like hardcore PC games andis an IT nerd.
Even if he doesn't enjoy Alleg much he will enjoy the fact such an old experimental game still lives on and is being worked on.

I suggest you get them playing long before they post a review or video.

Yes of course. Alleg does not make for good first play video, unless it's a three hour stream.

But you're all focusing on the wrong bit.
The important bit is that it's a good objective and that we should work for it.

I'll post tomorrow what my plan is for stage one.

Now that I have a better understanding of what these guys are like, I'm all for getting them to make videos.
Good luck Spinozza.
