So funny, I would actually like to see it. Has to be modeled like a yellow schoolbus though.

Background:
So I get in game last night and after some technical difficulties, get on my teams Teamspeak channel. Mastametz was comm for my team. I start out doing the typical things I do early in game: probe, scout map, pick up cash/tech, probe, probe, probe. Later in game I do a typical poor job of miner D in a scout (admittedly, i'm pretty incompetent in a scout - but i'm TOTALLY useless in any ship with guns). So we get shipyard, a carrier, and finally bombers. MrCoupon is in carrier, Psychosis is in an int, and I apologize - but I forgot who was the bomber driver (may have been MastaMetz).

I ask on TS, "Where do we need probes?"

"Fly to me and nan the bomber" replies Psychosis

So I had the pleasure...no the honor...of flying with these vets, and it was AWESOME!!!

It is MrCoupon, bulldozing a trench from base to base in the capship - ramming anything in our path - right up to the red door with our bbr pilot right behind him, peeking out when we get in range and blowing up bases - and Psychosis whoring the a$$ out of anyone who tried to fly around the carrier and mess with the bbr. Of course, little ol' me tucked behind the bbr with a nan. I did nan the bbr a few times, but he really didn't need it. I had a great time and learned a lot.

Lessons Learned:
Like I said, I ain't gonna pretend I have any skill or can give pointers on how to be a better pilot - BUT - I can pass on a few tips to my fellow less-skilled players on how to possibly have more fun in game. So here we go:

1) GET YOUR A$$ ON TEAMSPEAK: I cannot stess enough how much this helps. Sometimes nobody is using TS, but often one or more teams opens a team channel. Do you ever say to yourself, "I wish I knew what the comm is thinking or trying to do" or even "how do I do x,y, or z?". Well, how would you like an instant answer? It can be had on Teamspeak (sometimes).

2) LISTEN - BUT TALK A LITTLE TOO: Most of the time, you want to be listening and reading the chat (even though you are on TS, don't forget to read the chat!). Even if you are listening to something happening somewhere else (like a bbr run you are not a part of), you can pick up tips on how these things are coordinated, some of the techniques involved, and where your team is concentrating its efforts

example: In the game referenced above, I heard Psychosis and a few others attacking a constructor - I was probing. Here is what I heard (paraphrasing):

Psychosis: "Be there in a second. Is it building?"
Unknown 1: "Not yet...we can still get the ram"
Psychosis: "RAM HIM, RAM HIM!"
Unknown 2: "Got the ram"
Unknown 1: "Yeah, he's not building"
Psychosis: "There he is..."

So while I wasn't there, I learned that one way to stop a constructor from building is to ram him...get the point? ps the con DID build, because Psychosis was soo damn slow :P

Now the second part is to talk WHEN APPROPRIATE. Nobody is gonna ask Newbie(0) to do something critical, so you need to interject a bit to let them know you are there. It tells the comm a few things 1. You are ready to take orders and not just fly in circles. 2. Since you are on teamspeak, he can issue the orders verbally and doesn't have to waste his time typing instruction to Newbie(0). 3. He now has a newbie who is not just "dead weight". The thing to keep in mind is not to "bother" your team during critical efforts. For example, during a bbr run or the example attack on the op con above may not be the best time to ask, "which button fires missiles?". Wait for an appropriate "lull" and start out asking questions - to let them know you are there. There are ALWAYS questions an unskilled player can ask. Of course there are the, "how do I do this?", and "which key does that", but the BEST questions are ones like:

a. Where do we need probes?
b. Where do we need miner/ constructor Defense?
c. How can I help?

3) EXECUTE: This is the part I stuggle with - primarily because I lack skill - but most comms won't boot you for getting podded. They WILL boot you for ignoring them. So once you get an order, FOLLOW IT. Learn the [Insert] key ... it will move you in the right direction.

Well, enough for now. Like I said, I am a horrible Alleg player - BUT I STILL HAVE FUN!!! So whether you are a newbie and are just starting out, or if you are like me and have been around a while, but don't get to play much - even unskilled players can have a great time playing this game. Hopefully, some of this will help you get more involved in game and get you flying with the big dogs!!

"things I do early in game: probe, scout map, pick up cash/tech, probe, probe, probe. " Just got back. (Played when Microsoft cared). Goo to know like souls "Live to probe, Probe to live" I love doing the unsung hero stuff like probing and nanning.
