only an intellectual baboon could look at the amount of work that has already gone into this and deduce a scam, con, or fraud. Since that is ruled out. i suspect a troll.
The progress is obvious.
If you are clinging to the hope\fear that the game won't be anymore fun than NMS i can't help you. However, i am willing to bet you a nickle that you are wrong about this game and that yer an idiot.
i never bet more than ten cents. Its not the money i enjoy. https://youtu.be/9v0zg9bugeE
but you did remind me of this https://youtu.be/AmlEj40tr6Q
Star Citizen
oh, i am not really concerned with whether they can deliver to the value i ponied up i just wanted chris to make his dream game. No game is worth the amount i donated. i may not even live long enough.Psychosis wrote:QUOTE (Psychosis @ Aug 22 2016, 07:28 PM) @sunrodent
Not a scam, fraud or con. I think the believe it. But I don't think they can deliver anywhere to the VALUE people have ponied up.
But, i wanted an impressive game that pushed the capabilities of my P.C..
i did not want another console port with @#(!ty controls and low end graphics, turns out there were a lot of other P.C. users that were sick of the crap we were getting.
i also wanted a real successor for allegiance which in its day was way ahead of everything else and in fact still is in many ways.
This could very well be the game. And as Luke Skywalker ( staring in Squadron 42) said "the force is with us" lol. Squadron 42 (by the way 42 was picked from a hitch hikers guide to the galaxy)
is the single player game. It will be the deciding factor for me, the mmop Persistent universe is all bonus too me and it is already looking better than anything else out there.
Star citizen is still comparable to other AAA games in time to make.
Now the multiplayer part of the game (not just the graphics but the game play) is looking better than any other multiplayer game i've seen ever.
i can't wait to be right again. i picked Justin Trudeau for prime minister of Canada 5 years before he finally ran.
i'll keep posting the progression here because i think the allegiance players will be unstoppable in Star Citizen.
Life is Funny, without it yer Dead.

Are we going to bring the drama with us?

There are tonnes of Eve-ites in Star Citizen. Our drama is weak.
On another note, Star Citizen is going to allow private, modded servers. Forget rewriting Alleg.
But SC's assets could make for an orgasmic Alleg rebirth. I don't know if CIG has the realization that they are sitting on all the assets to make an extraordinarily compelling strategy/RTS. They are developing all the warships, but not really aiming to give them a purpose in the universe. Large scale war won't be a frequent thing, if ever, they are developing them for the standalone solo SQ42 game, and will allow most of them to be in universe but conquest and control of systems won't be a thing, like EVE, so there will be limited purpose for having large, mixed fleets. Unless they actually capitalize on it themselves, this will be a massive opportunity just waiting for someone to make hay.
There will be bases, jumppoints, capital ships, medical ships, troop transports, scouting, stealth, figbombers and large bombers, ship repair (albeit in a different manner, nanites won't be happening)...all the gameplay features of Alleg in a far higher fidelity. Add in the first person mechanics where you actually battle on foot to take the bases. It has all the potential of being Alleg writ large. If I had the technical know-how, that's what I'd look to do.
