are there ever GAMES THAT HAPPEN!?
Game 3:
?Terran@Alleg (GT Adv Exp) vs Phoenix1 (Belters Adv Exp)
Game recap:
This game launched moderately evenly but fairly quickly got stacked. I opened by splitting my cons to the right and left. Terran also went the same directions, and I built my op short and my team killed his TP securing a U rock for us. The original plan was to go belters TacSpan. I find those two techpaths really compliment each other with Belters because it lets you use the Speed GA to really get your bbrs moving and belters mini2 hvy ints are actually really strong defensive ships in the right hands. Unfortunately there were no tac rocks so I ended up a little screwed in that regard which hurt my miner offense to disasterous effect. The early part of the game was some ineffective miner offense by both sides: my belters figs were having a problem overcoming the GT defenses and the GT figs were having a problem dealing with my map control and enh belters miners. Then mini2 ints came up for GT and they had very little more sccess in miner offense, again thanks to the enh belters miners (seriously those things are bricks). Our lack of miner offense allowed GT to get their hvy ints up a couple of minutes ahead of ourswhich made our attempts at miner offense slightly abortive. Still, dumbfires on ints are pretty $#@!ing good at killing miners, especially as a sarming team. We were also fairly able to swat off HTT runs but found ourselves on the defensive and never got off of it. Then P32 and Babs joined and there was just too much whorepower for us to overcome and we lost.
Lessons Learned:
1) You can't let anyone free mine for 20 minutes. I had hvy bbrs on the way.
2) At some point waiting for the ultimate bbrs is a waste of time. I should have, when bbrs came up, started pushing Terran off the map. Killing the op on the right could have given me access to his exp (I never did see it this game), and helped keep my op at the middle safe.
3) I need to find someone willing to command belters exp for me because I actually really enjoy flying those hvies.
Seriously, a lot of people complain because afterburners aren't as effective on them, but frankly I think that's a very minor problem when compared with their absolute dearth of HP, their nimbleness (they're heavier but have a higher corresponding sidethrust ratio), and the fact that you can carry DF2. At minute 27 you could see the effectiveness of mini2 belters hvies in action when The_Force suddenly starts going in the wrong direction and the hvy ints dont' have enough power to kill our hvy ints fast enough.

Don't find fault, find a remedy; anybody can complain.

Game 5:
?Terran@Alleg (GT PT BBrs) vs Phoenix1 (Bios Adv Exp)
Game recap:
So there was a rather silly 5 minute game I cut out of here, and for good reason. Basically Djole has taken up the practice of hardcore stacking and the end result was that GT figs pushed a basc teleport next to IC's home leaving a bunch of IC ints sucking space. With the stack getting out of control, Terran and I did a pick pool. I picked reasonably well but chose Bios on the advice of someone I probably shouldn't have listened to. I sent a carrier low to camp an aleph while we mined it out with 3 miners and was going to use those 3 full miners to buy an expansion but then Cashto soloed one in his scout and P32 soloed another in his fig. From there I got an expansion up and Terran got his PT Bbrs up and that was basically game.
Lessons Learned:
1) Don't go Bios in game sizes larger than 2v2 at launch. Seriously.
2) Fix your loadouts ASAP. If I hadn't been tied up picking proxes out of my teeth I would have managed to catch Cashto on the aleph saving the full miner.
3) I need to fix Bios in one way or another because the way Bios exists right now is just not at all conducive to fun. You either get completely rolled in the early game and one side has the fun of using mini1 lt ints for 10 minutes pretending like they're IC commanded by a complete moron, or they find mini2 and/or survive to get mini3 hvies and the game turns into a 2-3 hour wankfest as a horribly disadvantaged team tries to claw its way back into the game with paradoxically vastly superior ships. The comeback faction flavor of Bios is rather wonderful I must say, but something needs to be done about how they are a) almost impossible to survive with in the early game given reasonably competent opponents and b) almost impossible to survive against in the late game given reasonably competent players. I normally don't like reverting to the mean as a balancing strategy, but something *has* to give with the way Bios flies. The simple fact remains that if all three of the opening miners live instead of just one and/or we find mini2 lying around, there's a good chance we stick out a win in about 120 minutes of gametime from them having PT bbrs and map control and hookers and blow. That's just... not ok.

honestly if those miners had lived, it would still be PT bbrs against mini1 lt ints which is just no comparison at all both in the ship killing business and in the base killing business. i don't think that game would have lasted much longer.

The good news is, dropping game 4's 5 minute video lets me have one video per day.
The bad news is that's because I accidentally got 2 games on 1 video.
The good news is, tomorrow's a twofor!
