I was able to connect to the lobby today with no issue but ACSS downloaded a file.
Any info on what that downloaded file was?

Hi Paps,

details can be found in the Allegiance 1.2 root directory:

2/15/2016 4:27:13 AM UTC: File did not exist: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Allegiance 1.2\Production\artwork\PCore010.igc, will update.

2/15/2016 4:27:18 AM UTC: File did not exist: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Allegiance 1.2\Beta\newgamescreen.mdl, will update.

2/15/2016 4:28:30 AM UTC: Updating artwork\PCore010.igc... Succeeded.

2/15/2016 4:28:30 AM UTC: Updating newgamescreen.mdl... Succeeded.

newgamescreen.mdl was a cross pollination with beta I'm afraid.

Hi Imago,

The Allegiance 1.2 beta is currently down. The R8 Allegiance 1.3 beta is here:

https://github.com/FreeAllegiance/Alleg ... up_131.zip

I need to update the launcher to point people to something more informative.

Thanks!

We should seriously consider working in some kind of code in the startup of allegiance.exe that ensures directplay is "enabled" in windows 10.

Hi Imago,

I know of this command line option to turn that on:

dism /online /enable-feature /FeatureName:DirectPlay

and this command to check the current status of the feature:

dism /online /get-featureinfo /FeatureName:DirectPlay

It would be pretty easy to shell out from allegiance to run these and parse out the results, but they are pretty slow. Do you know of a way to check and enable windows features outside of the command line? These could also be integrated into the installer.

Thanks,
-BT

CreateProcess ?

or use reg monitor (process monitor) to see what does that command change and write to reg directly?

Yeah, try that 1st (dunno about legal issues) and hope that dplay stuff isn't being fetched via GUIDs
