I'm sad to hear this...
The Escapist (Justin Emerson) @ Dec 21 2010, 02:33 PM:
The history of open-source Allegiance is paved with the bodies of dead code branches, forum flame wars, and personal vendettas. But a community remains because people still love the game.

And he didn't let that information out easily.

There was a get-together in Michigan a few years back where Mr. C and FlingPu and Terralthra and a few others gathered. I wasn't there for that, I caught Terralthra on his way home to california, but the funniest part about that trip for me was seeing a man I'd met purposely put a paper bag on his head with eye holes cut out, just because Terr was taking a picture and it might end up on the internet.

He was conscious of the fact that "anything that gets put on the internet stays there forever" when most of us were trying to figure out whether to fly DN or EoR.

MrC was a reason for coming back and reading these forums (always fun seeing the random posts he would drop my name into), a reason for logging into late night Alleg even though there wasn't enough people for a game, and definitely a reason to stay up way too late having conversations on ts/mumble.

The man had a gift for making people feel better about themselves and doing it in the most inconspicuous and often incoherent manner. I am without words how sad this makes me, I will miss him greatly.

Rest in peace my friend.
After time since the announcement, the way that I'm looking at it is that I can personally carry all of the interactions he and I had with me and strive towards whatever one could say he had. Grace? Intrinsic Honesty? Care for all of humanity?

All of the above, I guess, even when he got rude to people.

He was strong in everything he did, even if it meant he occasionally charged in the wrong direction.

I thought I'd share this from internal RT stuff., especially because Mr. C was telling a friend that he looked good.

He had a special way of doing it.

We have a long-standing "faces behind the monitors" thread that's moved on to other forums for example, I look like this now.

Hehe! As it so happens that's one of the strongest lingering images of him: The bloke with the paper bag on his head. That said, at about 3am in some random bar, it became obvious that MrC's demeanour was about 85% Donald Sutherland in The Dirty Dozen. Some of you may disagree, but it was one of those epiphanies that only happens in the middle of a very messy night... and your counterpart is extolling the virtues of transatlantic contraband smuggling.

Not immediately to hand. Isn't lurking somewhere in the RT archive (appreciating this is similar to asking somebody to find a particular straw in a haystack)?

Edit: Oh. RT is no more. Was the forum deleted or merely hidden?
