Guys i think you maybe missing the whole $#@!ing point, Steam, GoG, ect. isn't going to touch allegiance with M$ name and license all over it. Their lawyers aren't going to give a $#@! that we don't give a $#@! about who gives a $#@! about alleg. About the only way i can think of to subvert that is to change the name and clam ownership of the (alleg) code, which is blantent fraud, and would likely cause someone (M$) to give a $#@!.
Quote from Cashto:
"But honestly no one at Microsoft cares whether anyone makes money off Allegiance or not. Even if we pirated the hell out of Allegiance, I doubt we would ever have to seriously worry about Microsoft legal ever darkening our door. They have much bigger fish to fry.
Still, it's worth it to protect not only FAO from legal liability, but Steam, Desura, and other partners as well. Plus it's just the right thing to do."
So i'll ask the rest of you and Globey more specifically, when you say: "...let's just do it.", what is it your saying we should just do? It's not up to us whether or not Steam and the rest host this game, it's up to them and they're not going to touch this pile of @#(! with out changes being made to the license.
Do you know talented C++ dev?

Thank you Blake, for stating once again, what some folks here have difficulty understanding.blake420 wrote:QUOTE (blake420 @ Jul 25 2015, 10:36 PM) Guys i think you maybe missing the whole $#@!ing point, Steam, GoG, ect. isn't going to touch allegiance with M$ name and license all over it. We cannot and i say again, CANNOT publish Allegiance, on ANY, digital content delivery platform, without MS'S consent.
Back on the point of this topic.
PKK are you willing to work with Imago?
QUOTE ^cashto@Elem (all): yeah, i imagine if you're rusty, you could build op short for no reason, build a naked ref, then go two techpaths even though your mining is by all objective standards $#@!ed[/quote]

I thought that Steam would not want anything to do with us without permission from Microsoft. However, Subspace Continuum got on Steam and they (whoever accoplished that) had no permission from anyone with rights to the game.

I'd like to expand on my earlier point and bring the point more on topic of this thread.
There is no reason to raise dev money for allegiance if we can't get M$ to give us a more favorable license. The only real reason to raise any dev money is for a alleg clone with new code we own and can release. Sure we can make a small profit off alleg and probably not get into trouble, but that @#(! isn't going to happen. With the player base this small do you really expect anyone to pay to play allegiance? Trying to monetize this game is going to be mind boggling $#@!ing difficult because there's so few of us here and even less i suspect that would be willing to spend a damn cent.
So, i say again, what is it we should "lets just do it."?
The only hope, and i mean only hope i see going forward is to support the new allegiance/allegiance 2 projects already being developed to a point that they can go on kickstarter or steam greenlight.

I'd recommend some research done to see if the company that owned the rights to the game is even still in existence. If they are still in existence i'd be very interested to know what steps was taken by the person(s) responsible for getting Subspace onto steam.AEM wrote:QUOTE (AEM @ Jul 25 2015, 05:45 PM) I thought that Steam would not want anything to do with us without permission from Microsoft. I feel like we're stuck with an extra tall hurtle to clear being as it's not just any company, it's $#@!ing M$ that has the rights to our baby.

As for raising money for marketing and/or development, I would still suggest doing the Teespring thing.
Better chance of making money if the investor got something in return such as a hat/shirt with some Allegiance art work on it.
Guaranteed M$ would never even know the community was making money with their artwork.
I'm pretty sure if they did find out they could care less anyways.
As long as any and all money was used strictly for marketing/development and none was pocketed by whoever receives payments,
this could help us raise some much needed cash.

When I say " let do it." just like { AEM indicated : I thought that Steam would not want anything to do with us without permission from Microsoft. However, Subspace Continuum got on Steam and they (whoever accoplished that) had no permission from anyone with rights to the game.}

here is what I think, even though we are small, just like Microsoft start out from a car garage, we aim small , first three things is our goal for now.

I love it. We're desperate enough that my sarcastic Alleg merch post that it's gaining traction.

In all seriousness, I would pay for an Alleg shirt or hat.
Pop the Alleg Logo on the back of the shirt, put the text from this image on the front. $25 a pop, bam.
+1 to what Blake said. PKK and Imago working together is the best thing that can happen to Alleg dev-wise.
