Plaugue outbreak in Madagascar

I feel very sad for the people living there. It feels weird, I played the Pandemic game like 2 years ago? Those who do not know Pandemic, you have to wipe out Earth. Madagascar was notorious hard to infect since they closed the borders when someone even sneezed outside their country.

I was going to say that the bubonic plague is easily addressed with antibiotics in the modern world....
But I googled the GDP per Capita of Madagascar, and it seems doubtful they can afford widely available modern medicine.

I played Pandemic too, and because Madagascar never, ever, got infected in Pandemic, I had unrealistic expectations.
Damn them and their tendency to close their ports.
