Djole88 wrote:QUOTE (Djole88 @ Sep 22 2014, 10:30 PM) iirc the cruise speed for interceptors, unlike for other ships, is same in all directions?
And adv figs have 85% of max speed in the other directions, so not much is lost there either. Enh or basic figs are more wasteful.

yes, on all small ships. 0.75% on medium class ships.

1v1ing is about the least useful thing you can do in the game

Control Setup
Left Thrust: A
Right Thrust: D
Up Thrust: W
Down Thrust: X
Reverse Thrust: S
Forward Thrust: TAB
Booster:Z
Roll Left:Q
Roll Right: E
Target Nearest Enemy: V
Target Base: B
Target Center: Middle Mouse Click
Toggle Mouse: Spacebar
Movement
Use forward thrust and your direction of movement to maintain speed at all times. Use Boost sparingly, and instead only use to engage quickly, or escape. Use Reverse thrust as a speed brake. Do not use throttle up or down at all, unless you want to just autopilot cruise, instead use forward thruster.
Tactics to Practice:
Dodging - practice using w a x d w a x d w a x d , or up, left, down, right, up ect to fly a tight little circle. Do this when being fire at when you are at a healthy distance, you will throw off your enemy. This generally works when you are running, or directly facing the enemy.
Aiming - Your direction throws off your aiming, learn to anticipate your dodges and correct on the fly.
Situational Awareness - Don't stick around to fight if you are going to lose, only pick battles you can win. Winning does not have to be improving your kill bonus, it can be killing a miner or a con, or defending a miner or a con, or a base.
1v1 - When Brood says 1v1 is the least useful thing you can do, its a half truth. Generally for newer players its bad - because you will most likely lose to a more experienced pilot, but let me throw out a situation when it is very useful. You come across an enemy constructor while you are on the way to miner offense, it has no nan, but some voob pilot in a fighter or interceptor escorting it. If you just focus on the constructor, and you park your ship 200 meters from the enemy while you focus on the constructor, that enemy will pod you. If you instead pod the voob, then kill the con, you win. Its a 1v1, but far from the the least useful thing you can do.
Practice - I have 5372 Kills and 3234 Ejects. I am far from the best pilot. I took alot of deaths before I started figuring out how not to get stuck in a pod. Anyone who has observed my playing style will notice I will relentlessly attempt to obtain an objective, with little regard for KB. I will find a way to get home quickly, even ramming my pod against a player, a constructor, or a miner so I can get back into the fight ASAP. The lesson here is that you will need to spend alot of time in a pod before you start figuring out how to not spend time in a pod... It has taken me 3234 ejects to get a point where I have a decent chance of winning.
Statistics - If you average out my entire time of playing I have a 62% chance of winning any engagement I enter. Of course, when I first started playing I probably had a 5% chance of winning. If you took my last three months of playing it might be closer to 90% - but thats just a guess.
If you keep playing, and improving, you will get better as well.

You were in a solo int on your way to solo a miner and you happened across a solo constructor that's being guarded by a solo int?
I feel like you just described possibly the only 2 pilot scenario where I'd be tempted to boot at least 3 people.
Boot the int for wandering around blind, boot someone flying circles for not helping the miner o, and booting the enemy int for not having a nan?
Anyways, keep it simple for the new guy: don't DM. There are occasional exceptions to this rule (where you have to pod the D before you pod the con or miner), but for the most part Brood is right.

I prefer to play a brood/sheffy, and pod the entire defense and then kill the miner/cons.
