Or you could go for the neg approach. "Hey, if I had a shiny pod like yours I'd fly it around all day too ..."

I usually get podded far away from base, 2 sectors or so. When you're so far from base, and no one's around, it's usually quicker to just suicide in the +/- z-axis.
