Screen Turns Black except HUD

I did a Fresh install and started to do the tutorials and everything was fine. I then increased the screen resolution and everything was still o.k.
I then downloaded some of Mesial's high res mods. Then I started the tutorials and it started out fine, but when the ship turned, the entire screen went black
except for the HUD. I uninstalled all mesial's mods and uninstalled allegiance 1.2 and deleted all folders. I then downloaded and re-installed
Allegiance 1.2. I left the resolution at the default and the tutorial started out normally (could see the ship, base, HUD), but when the part
of the tutorial where the ship turns came up, the screen went blank except the HUD was still there. in the registry It is set to :
Combatfullscreenxsize 1024
combatfullscreenysize 768
Combatxsize 800
Combatysize 600

I don't know if it was mesial's mods or something in changing the resolution back and forth but all of the tutorials go black once the ship turns, but the HUD is still visible
I'll run a virus scan since my antivirus didn't like Mesial's mods, so I disabled it to install the high res packs.

Any help would be appreciated.

This is a known bug, that the screen turns black during training missions.

This bug does effect only training missions, not regular games.

Known issue that has happened to a lot of people. Seems to happen randomly and no one knows what causes it. Yes the only time this occurs is in the training missions when it turns your ship. It will never happen in a real game.

Guess ill have to train "in game". Strange that I was able to do the missions prior to messing with my screen resolution.

I think this affects no more than one or two training missions. You can still do most of them if you want.

O.K. A couple more newb questions from someone who hasn't played since 2011.

1) My native screen resolution for my monitor is 1920X1080. I kinda like the look in game when running 1680X1060...but when I change the resolution in game the HUD is too small and I can't read the chat. Is there a way to increase to these higher resolutions while scaling the HUD and chat?
2) On the in game menu I set max texture size to 2048 and enabeled "Use Texture Pack". What is the "texture pack". I know mesial's website has some high res textures. Are these related? Are mesial's packs what people are still using today?
3) Finally, I downloaded mumble but when I launch it, if I hit "connect" I het a very large list of channels. Is there a way in mumble to enter the allegiance channel? TheAlaskan said use mumble.rtsquad.org - port 64738 but I can't find a place to enter that and can't find it on the extremely long list.
