R8 Beta Test Saturday October 26 SGT
R8 Bug fixes:
•Experimental game type should work now (it was deselecting itself or something)
•Upgrading a miner no longer loses any ore that it's carrying.
•IPv6-related server crash fixed.
•LAN server is accessible now.
•Cores without certain stations will no longer crash.
•Turret-related crash fixed.
•Client will no longer crash without a sound card.
•A problem with upgrades not being transmitted to everyone in allied mode is fixed.
•Players joining the game will correctly view rocks and stations that their team can see, even if that rock is gone or station is upgraded.
•Station pods (for example) can be given a 'warn' flag in ICE and the sector will stop flashing when the pod is destroyed.
Notable Improvements:
•The default keymap uses WASD.
•Cortui (and glasshud and jelloshot and...) are all built-in now.
•#mutiny (and one or two others I think) work in the lobby (#list will tell you)
•Random faction works now.
•There's a bunch of additions to chat commands. Stop (ctrl-s) and Hide (ctrl-h) are new, a couple of old things work without a target (a build order will pick a nearby rock to build on, for example).
•There are two cores on FazDev which have things (constructors, miners) building right from the start.
•Drone AI isn't as infuriating. Miners are less likely to run towards enemies, for example.
•Miners with high capacity will use it better without needing as much micro.
•A bunch of little hud improvements. The inventory pane shows more useful stats, and the damage stats are colour-coded for how efficient your weapon is against your current target. Your targeting hud tells you how close you have to be to be spotted by that target. Possibly others.
•Chat timestamps in the lobby.
•Arrow keys work in the chatbox now (in-game only - lobby chat still doesn't this version)
•There's a no-kb deathmatch option now.
See you Saturday!

If you crash when the mission starts, or when trying to change HUD styles:
Go to your Allegiance Beta folder. This will probably be either
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Allegiance\Lobbies\Beta
or
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Allegiance 1.2\BetaNavigate from there to \Artwork\modsDelete the two folders named "Software - Parci Style" and "Software - Raveen Style". There will be a bunch of folders with similar names, the ones that need to be deleted have spaces in the names. If you're unsure, just delete all of them and ACSS will re-download the ones you need.
This will only affect people who logged in some months ago during the couple of days between when the auto-updater was corrupting some artwork, and when we realised it and worked around it. Deleting those folders removes the bad artwork. I know it's annoying to have to do this, but ACSS doesn't have the ability to delete stuff.

1. If you delete "Beta" folder if wont get restored fully by launcher (font.mdl and other are missing).
2. F4 screen was broken for me (could not select ship from drop down list, also clicking "Next"/"Previous" buttons did not always change ship)
3. Default controls are still different from "WASD config" from http://www.freeallegiance.org/FAW/index.ph...apping_controls
P.S. Also this huge white stripe with arrow for scrolling chat is ugly.

Ok. I hid scroller and made chat 4 lines. But still I have problems with F4. Also in F3 while oob you can not select ships in the area where was the chat. And if constructor is selected and you move cursor to the are where was the chat it does not change to build cursor. It feels like chat is still there and overlaps some other stuff (like buttons in F4 and area in F3).Djole88 wrote:QUOTE (Djole88 @ Oct 27 2013, 06:26 AM) esc->g->m->s
