Allegiance Training Videos - Google Video
I'd still prefer more general training videos over the special stuff Seymor suggested. Maybe you should also differentiate between training videos (showing interested newer Allegiance players how to do things right) and publicity videos that try to draw more attention to Allegiance.
One note about the subtitles: maybe creating alternative versions *with* the subtitles (considering that you already have them) for the non-native speakers might be useful. That said, I didn't have any problems to understand you. I wouldn't mind you talking slower anyway, but you already explained why that is.

Yeah man I just got Fraps today and turned it on in an hour long game. I got the whole game and there's 35 gigs sitting in my fraps folder. I use Adobe Premiere Elements 3.0 and the quality drop even to get it into the program is atrocious. And from that to mpeg2 will never occur again before my eyes. It's bad. Lawson when you figure this out pm me please. =D
Update: after far too much time, I've worked out decent results on Pinnacle Studio. The trick is to disable the offical Fraps codec and use FFDShow instead, as explained here:Dome wrote:QUOTE (Dome @ Jan 25 2007, 03:32 AM) Yeah man I just got Fraps today and turned it on in an hour long game. I'm editing an HDV2 (1440x1080 aka 1080i) project by dropping the Fraps AVIs into the timeline (which FFDShow makes work in Studio). The image ends up with borders, but that's fine because I'm going to do the final crop and compress step in another program.
After editing, write the project in MPEG2 HDV2 1080i format, which works out to 25Mbits, slightly smaller than the original Fraps source bit-wise.
For final output, load the MPEG2 into whatever you like (in other words, VirtualDubMod or AviSynth) and crop/resize to 800x600.
I'll post up a sample of the final render quality soon. I have a 67 second demo with music, no narration; it's rather good quality.
EDIT: see http://hosted.filefront.com/LawsonVideos for samples.
Another edit: Just tried to play the WMV version on a Pentium III 1GHz laptop, and the frame rate was about 0.2! These require a lot of horsepower to play. Oddly, the Windows Media file requires more power to play than the game engine does...

I'm really liking it.
One thing, could you please install the HighRes asteroids, and the two highres explosions. They really make an amazing difference, and would make the videos look that much better.
upgrade your rocks here.

!! Do not forget to increase the Maxtexture size in the ESC>Graphics>MaxtextureSize Menu ingame.!!

They are both the same explosion, though I wasn't sure what explosion 24 and 25 were used for.
I was hoping it was ship and base explosions.

This one is inteded to be the ship explosion, as the previous one is supposto be a base explosion.
Again, I dont know which is 24 and which is 25, so they are both in here.

I'm not Hamlet. I don't take part any more. My words have nothing to tell me anymore.

I still haven't seen the demoreel because I'm stuck on dialup today. But a friend of mine said it still has the Alleg music in it. I'd like to point you to AMP2, specifically, the Come Hard House track. Its one of the best action tracks I've found for an Allegiance fight scene.
EDIT : Bah, looks like the link's a 404. I'll try to get alternate hosting for it (I have the original ZIP lying around in this comp somewhere).

Regarding hi-res textures: sounds like a good idea. The final output (compressed 800x600 video) might not show off the higher res rocks so well, but the explosions could definitely use a boost.
Regarding the music: I'm open to suggestions, so long as we don't get into copyright issues. The original soundtrack is a known-safe variable--I hope. The demoreel I posted is missing its narration track. Once that's in, the music can be mixed in. The sync of the narration takes more work; music is more flexible in that regard.
