Who's playing? The experience from this game should help immensely in this one, especially with group tactics. Dogfighting module is coming out and was hoping there was a group to join from here. Anyone have any info?

there are some people interested, I just don't like the Pay To Win model that Star Citizen employees. Open to being convinced later, but I am not drinking the kool-aid.

I don't like Star Citizens "stretch goals". It's $#@!ing ridiculous like 500k-1 million just to add one flyable ship, that is ridiculous.

I'm glad I didn't back Star Citizen because it really does look like it's a weird financial model. I might still play it someday but far more looking forward (and backed) to Elite Dangerous. Also this vid is $#@!ing beautiful http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VE8B4KptyVI

The Star Citizen promises remind me of Peter Molyneux hype. From one of the few developers I think should be trusted even less than Peter Molyneux.

They are definitely promising the moon w/ Star Citizen. However, they also have raised a @#(!load of money (~10x more than Elite) that goes directly into funding the game. No 3rd party taking their cut, no investors to appease, etc. They've got a huge chunk of money, what appears to be good leadership with a strong vision, and nobody telling them what they can and can't do and when it needs to be done by. Now if this results in the game CR is promising, that's yet to be seen... as usual I'm optimistic. The Hangar Module was a neat little tease and was delivered on-time and as promised, so so far, so good. I do think some of the more outlandish features (FPS boarding, FPS battles on planets) will be delayed once they start doing alpha testing/beta testing.

Elite Dangerous also looks amazing. I really should have pledged for that, too... I've been bitching about the lack of Space Sims for 10 years and now that they're coming back, I only backed one =P I'll still buy Elite, though.

Well it's ok, between the both of us it looks like both games will be taking our money at different times to even it out.

wow people have given this guy tons of moneyl to develop a game that hasn't even been released yet? So normally i'd go to a store and drop $40 and go home with a game i can play. In this situation, I pay $40, then have to wait for the game to be finished, then maybe, someday, if it actually gets finished, I get a copy? Maybe years from now? People are really stupid.

I looked at this:
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cig/star-citizen

I had to laugh. People donated as much as $10k. TEN GRAND. Are you effing kidding me? And all they get in return is a copy of the game and some flair. Seriously? People are really, really stupid.

But the developer is really smart. I'm guessing he'll be a multi-millionaire off this release.

People have donated millions to cancer research but cancer is still around, at least these guys get a game. Hell donations to Alleg overall might have even hit 100k, definitely if you include the costs that pkk, TE, MrC etc... have paid

The key word to look at is donate. It's not a pre-ordering system it's donation from people to try and see a game get developed. And of course for 10k your going to get flair, if they gave you a car or some @#(! it wouldn't be donating.

I just thought of what would happen if i gave my kids $100 and said 'now do your chores'. I reckon the best i could get is a made bed or something that looks like a made bed.
