I'm not sure I disagree. On the other hand, I doubt we will see meaningful gun restrictions in our lifetime, given the power of the kooks/gun lobby in the US.Icky wrote:QUOTE (Icky @ Jan 15 2013, 09:45 AM) I have yet to hear a rational, logical argument from any gun-rights advocates on why stricter background checks and more restrictive gun control policies should not be enacted. Personally I think we should treat guns just like we do cars.
...
Can Cam or TA or any other gun advocates give me an explanation for this, beyond people like guns and think they are cool? And don't give me the argument about needing to defend against an oppressive government. That's a bull@#(! argument and at least half the people who make it know it is. The other half are kooks who have Y2K shelters and survival gear and are just waiting for the new world order.

Australia is a $#@!ing rock in the middle of nowhere, and not a big one at that. Australia is also highly socialized which reduces the stress level on the inhabitants considerably (and this is a very applicable factor in this discussion)
If we push heavy gun control/prohibition, guns will bleed over the border from Mexico just like all the Mexicans and drugs do, and gun related crime will skyrocket. (and it's very obvious we have no intention of actually controlling our southern border, despite our alleged interest in "national security")
Everyone needs to stop trying to compare other countries to America because they are not comparable, at all. Not culturally, not geographically, not population wise, not anything.
The best thing we can do is push gun training on people so if they do decide to go on a shooting spree, it's not actually a spree, because they'll shoot their intended target instead of a crowd of people on accident.
and stop pushing prescription drugs on everyone and turning them mad
and, you know, secure our borders. which won't happen.
America will never improve in any way. It will implode on itself completely before it can POSSIBLY take any better form. I will be standing atop a mountain as it happens.

There's a new sheriff in town.
....while being shot at by victims families who imported guns from Mexico and were trained under his laws.Sheriff Metz wrote:QUOTE (Sheriff Metz @ Jan 16 2013, 11:12 AM) America will never improve in any way. Maybe apathy is the real problem.

Adam Lanza was a good shot. Noah Pozner was hit 11 times, and his left hand and jaw were mostly gone.Sheriff Metz wrote:QUOTE (Sheriff Metz @ Jan 15 2013, 08:12 PM) The best thing we can do is push gun training on people so if they do decide to go on a shooting spree, it's not actually a spree, because they'll shoot their intended target instead of a crowd of people on accident.
If you think this is an actual problem you're dumber than you act. If you are trolling about this then I have no words for you.
