TC, if you end up getting the Lumia tell us how it feels. I should go and paw at one at a store I suppose

Well, compared to history I am not sure about all this "progress" :)

Take my old Nokia 6060 (bought in the nineties of last century) for example. Standby time is like half a month, still on the original battery! No updates required. Data consumption is like a few kb's a month (WAP). This thing might survive a nuclear holocaust so the cockroaches can have fun with it :D

Present day Android. Connect to wifi, update software and data, disconnect wifi. Make sure battery is fully charged, turn wifi, 3G and GPS off. Put phone in leather sleeve (no scratches on touchscreen). Put phone in empty coat pocket, make sure wallet is in other pocket (magstripe on bank card!). Take usb cable with me to recharge phone elsewhere. When using the phone in the street keep an keen eye no one wants to "borrow" it.

I think the battery in my Nokia is degrading, it barely lasts longer than a week between recharges now. And it's not even 8 years old! I must have gotten a dodgy one.

I hear ya, have you dropped it though?

My 3330 started doing that after I dropped it from a 3 storey building and the battery popped out into a puddle. Now it lasts just over a week instead of fortnightly.

I see that i'm not the only one who fanboys the (old) nokia hardware quality.
But the real best phone I had in my life so far is the motofone:

Battery life ~3-4 weeks, so long that I always forgot where my loading device was.
Hardware was undestroyable. Software was error-free.
I have a johnson photo in my profile since 2010.

Since I've looked into it, I can tell you Windows Phone app space is in even (much) worse shape than Android.

But this is Microsoft we are talking about here and if Surface sells all those are apps are bound to trickle down to Windows 8 Phone.

A lot hinges on Surface really.

Want bigger games? Log on to play at the official game time: 9pmET/8pmCT/7pmMT/6pmPT every day of the week. Also Saturdays 8pm UTC.

I have a grandfathered iPhone/ phone contract through AT&T, as the primary holder of the plan, I do all my work through 3rd parties because the AT&T store keeps trying to take my plan away from me by "accident"

I've never had a single problem with any Android app I've downloaded... and you can write your own free of charge, too. Putting it on the market is a different matter, of course. But you don't need to pay to write the apps.
