Still amazed why people want to pay so much for a "closed" phone, and than spend more money to jailbreak it. Followed by more money to "unlock" it, so you can use the cheap phone / data plan. Last but not least, spend more money since their warranty is void.

Sure, it's a decent phone, it looks slick and such. But all that money.... Phew...

People can buy whatever phone they like and even exchange one of their kidneys for one like many in China.

I think the spin is hilarious

It's a bit sad, they sell themselves as innovative but they're playing catchup and just suing competitors instead

As sumvertas said.. apple sells a livestyle, not a phone. You may like it or not (I don't) but android fanboys are really weird and nobody likes them while apple fanboys at least get some respect in their peer group.

The main innovation that apple made is creating a system that contains all their platforms and connected them. Nobody needed a cellphone with calendar and email, a computer with calendar and mail, a phone with calendar and mail. What really was needed is that all those systems do work together, in a way that you have a(one!) calender for all your devices, one email system, similar UI, shared data... Blackberry, nokia, windowsCE and many others died because they did not offer this. Google does and android is not the product, it is only a tool to sell the product.

I wouldn't say I am an android fanboy, but I am an anti-Apple guy.

They sell over-priced products and don't innovate anything, their marketing department is the best in the world. Their hardware tends to be over-priced, their software tends to be well designed aesthetically but not new at all in actual features or content, they tend to be against interoperability of their hardware and software.

Wha?!?! They invented the rectangle with rounded corners.

That's almost a wheel.

OK, the spin is a bit ridiculous, yeah.

The "closed" phone gives you far more choice in the way of quality apps than Android. As far as I'm concerned, the hardware is comparable, so I go where there is better software (not just the OS).

I liked the study that compared religious people going to a church service and mac people going to the opening of a new mac store:

the mac people had the same chemical reaction in their brains as the religious people were having.

Does cost or value for money come into your thinking? In the UK at least an iPhone is more expensive than a similarly specced Android/BB/Win Phone 7 handset. Are you happy to pay the premium for that quality app experience? (seriously, I'm not baiting here, I'm genuinely interested)

There is pretty much no cost difference in the US if you are looking at high-end hardware. Hardware is subsidized by carriers, who then proceed to gouge you through expensive plans.

Sprint offers the best deal for iPhone and T-Mobile offers the best deal for Android. If you go with AT&T you get raped either way. Verizon adds a 20% rape surcharge over AT&T.

I've had an iphone4, currently sgs2 and i'm considering the new nokia lumia but windows8 puts me off as I doubt the apps are as extensive and developed as Ios or android.

I would never go to an iphone again as I don't like how they lock you in to their own closed system, you need to jailbreak it to do things you can do with a simple nokia.

Apple had a fantastic marketing department and it's all about spin and massive profits disguised as "innovation"

Here's a very good article on the principles that rule apple and why they didn't include NFC and created more money making schemes with their new adaptors.
