Welcome. The learning curve is often thought to be a deterrent to retaining players. Most "gamers", I think, have the expectation that they can (and should) be able to pick up a game quickly then be able to hold their own. Allegiance is not like that at all. It's fun right out of the box, but the real fun is its depth AND its re-playability.
This game is great because there's nothing like it out there yet.
Keep with it, learn your controls, and work on your aim.
Read the allegwiki. Very good stuff, but practical experience is the best.
And over everything else, have fun!

Thanks for the warm welcome; I read the wiki and some helpful posts on this forum, added several mods, and have joined a couple games to get the feel of it. It's definitely fun - brings back fond memories of Freespace 2! Hope to see you guys in-game sometime.
