As you can see from my profile, I signed up back in 2004 and even have the box game. I would really love to get back into the game, but from what I have read, you have to be skilled to play on a team . Don't get me wrong, I am an avid space and flight sim player. I have played Jumpgate, Black Prophecy and just about every space sim out there that requires that "twitch" factor. Currently playing Vendetta Online, so I know the mechanics of space navigating and controlling your ship.

What I remember about Allegiance, is that it was a blast when I played it many years ago and would like to play again. I just don't know how to go about it or remember the mechanics. Is there a game to learn. Not interested as a commander, I enjoy following orders and doing a job assigned to me, no matter how mundane it is or risky.

Any tips?

Thanks All

Wow...'04...welcome back! We have an extensive Wiki as well as training system now. The Wiki link is in the black bar above. As for the mechanics, just jump into a game and don't worry about screwing up too much as long as you are a newbie.
Use esc + G + C to see how you're keys are mapped...that can be a big help. We also have an improved training area (Button on the left in the "Main" lobby) that you can use if you don't want to get whacked while you're exploring. :P

I strongly recommend mumble

we have a server at mumble.alleg.net use the default ports. even if you don't have a mic, you can at least listen to tactical chat (or whatever else BS is going on) and get really detailed answers to your questions.

I downloaded mumble. Tried to download the keyboard setup, but it wouldnt let me open it. I am playing Vendetta Online using the keyboard and mouse instead of my X52 and throttle. Much more accurate. I need to set up the wasd layout with mouse. Started the training, but using the up/down keys doesnt cut it for me. Tried to change it, but All I got was those ???. I know I am doing something wrong, just haven't figured it out yet. I did change the reticle to a smaller profile. I just need that keyboard layout. This is where I went---> Link

Any help would be appreciated. I really would like to learn this game again.

If you are going to download the .mdl files, those go into your artwork folder, no need to open them.

If you are going to set your keys manually, whe you get !!! that means something else is assigned to that key and you have to hit enter to override.

Finally, don't try to test your keys with training. Just create a new game in the lobby, join a team, click on the checkbox next to the other team name to disable it and fire up the game.

Want bigger games? Log on to play at the official game time: 9pmET/8pmCT/7pmMT/6pmPT every day of the week. Also Saturdays 8pm UTC.

You can change keybindings in the last two training missions, but not the first five missions. No idea why.

Don't bother with training, or any of that. If you're on and Fwiffo is trying to get some people to do training, by all means, join up - but don't make it a priority. Just play the game, and try to make yourself useful as quickly as possible.

Remember miners are the most important thing in the game. Keep yours alive (always mount a nan on a scout), or try to kill theirs. That's the key to the game, everything else is secondary to that. Edit: Also you can't do anything as a pod, so try to stay alive, being a hero accomplishes nothing, best way to play this game (unless you're an awesome dogfighter) is to run around like a scared little bitch, and just keep your drones (cons/miners) alive, or try to kill theirs.

I do remember some of the game. Just have to get my keyboard layout set to wasd and mouse. I have printed out the lyaout I want. Just need to find the mdl file for it. This is the one I want LINK
Steady Hands

But when I try and download the file, I get this--> Download .mdl file here

when I click on the others, a download file screen pops up.

Im pretty sure you dont have to download a file. You can just change keyboard mapping in game. esc - g - c maybe? Idk.

Like my thrusts are
^
W
<-A D->
and S is backwards. Seems to work fine. But yeah you can just set it up in game.
