Hey, fantastic vid.

I'm a noob and I've found that utilizing the minimap for situation awareness is rather challenging for new players. I think it would be a great subject for a training vid. The allegacademy info is helpful, but a video showing it in use might help with the learning curve.

Bringin' it back, baby.

I've been thinking about doing similar videos to cover various tactics ranging from generic probing and bombing, to specific tactics like defending in gunships and bombing with rix SBs.

I cringe whenever people use rix SBs these days, because they treat them just like every other SB out there. Makes a man sad.

Any discussing about not donating is pretty pointless right now unfortunately. If you want something done about the donation problem test R4 out so it can be released faster and we'll never have to worry about non donaters again (just lots of crazy newbs trying to get command with #mutiny all the time /doh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="doh.gif" /> )

Concerning videos, I'm going to working on a lot of those starting soon. I purchased 2 years of hosting less than a month ago (link in sig though there isn't anything there now). I'm going to be purchasing the Adobe Creative Suite 3: Master Collection whenever it is released. It's really expensive even at the student price but I'd really like to learn my way around it since it's the sort of stuff I want to do when I graduate in 2 years. And so an Allegiance website with training videos and other visual training material is what I'm going to work on as I learn. I was hoping lawson would assist, but I'm guessing he isn't active much at all currently.

I'm going to start shooting footage ASAP to get ahead though I probably won't have time to work on editing them and getting them ready for viewing for a long time. I need to get the next version of F1 put together first at least. I figure it makes most sense to shoot video during @Cadet games. Unfortunately that is only once a week though. If only I had a special callsign or something which allowed me to get in-game without contributing to balance so I could join regular games and freely shoot footage in an observer without me being dead weight to the team since I take up a spot. I highly doubt that would even be considered though..so I'll stick with @Cadet games for now and maybe later down the road we can have announced recording sessions and hope we get at least 10 people to show up to act out various techniques.

Overall, nice idea. However, I think this video is lacking quite a bit, although I understand that it is just a proof of concept. Mostly I would like to see the narration going in to a lot more detail. The two main points I would like to see covered:

Ship Selection: Why did you choose a fig? Why not an int? When would be an appropriate time to choose one or the other, or even an sf? Maybe you could even capture footage of a similar situation in both ships, and show them both while explaining the diffrences between how theyre flown.

Ship Loadout: You say in the video that there is no time to customize the loadout. However, if there were time, how would you load out your ship? Things like choosing between seekers and dfs, extra ammo vs extra fuel.

These are both things that I as a newer player wonder about. They should be pretty easy to add to the video; just pause the images at the ship loadout screen, talk a little about ship selection/loadout, and resume.

Two more things, especially if these are going to marketed to very new players (ie. have played very few if any games on the main server). Show the entire run, if possible. Since this video clip only shows the very end of the run, it sort of gives a distorted view of what a bomb run is really like (since the nans have already been destroyed). Second, and this goes hand in hand with the first point, point out that nans should be the first target.

Overall I think this it is a very good concept, and I thank you for developing what will become another very helpful resource for alleg.

PS. If you need a program for sound editing, Audacity is a very good open source sound recording and editing program. You can find it on source forge.

smart pal did you read the other posts. lets NOT make it part of cadets, Lets Up the video quality from something other than You tube, and public advertise about it. these videos are the easiest way to get newbies to atleast attempt to understand the complexity of the game. Laziness is the biggest reason people don't learn this game

It goes by a little fast; there are places where you need to explain more in depth to noobs about what is going on.
Now if we could only tack it on to a training mission. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I have a feeling the quick opener is because of the assumption that those things done in the beginning were covered in "earlier videos"
Like a "We're not gonna cover this again, but dont forget to do this" kinda thing. I think its perfect.

Awesome job like last time lawson. if you ever need people for examples let me know I'd be glad to help out.

I think most videos should be available to all but maybe have some videos exclusive to Cadets. I will be putting together quite a variety. I will certainly try to cover areas other than gameplay with my videos, such as the community and resources such as @Cadet, etc. I will give particularly heavy coverage to situational awareness videos and exercises, stuff like giving scenarios and showing what is important, what needs to be done at the time, etc.
