I guess that is their business model.

Dude, Malice, you haven't even played the game. Stop being such a little bitch. If it's not your kind of game, fine. Lots of games out there I would never fork money over for that plenty of others do. Personally I'm really enjoying it and will gladly pay $15 a month to keep enjoying it. To me, it's worth that. To you, it isn't. So stfu and go crawl back under the bridge you came from.

Pretty much what's going on in this thread is a bunch of ignoramuses drawing conclusions based on the leveling process about the end-game play of an MMORPG.
What is furthermore idiotic is that even though Star Wars is WAYYYYYYY less of a grind-based game (grinding resources, levels, quests, etc) than WoW (which is the most successful MMORPG ever) people try to justify reasons why they can't/shouldn't/won't play it.

There are ways to enjoy both aforementioned games without dedicating your life to them. (Even WoW lately has oriented itself towards considerably less grinding/time consumption).

There is more than one way to play these games, and if you don't have time to grind, then don't use the grind method. Play a different way. There are options.

also, 15 bucks a month is extremely cheap entertainment

I paid 20 bucks to see MI:Ghost Recon at the IMAX
should have stayed home and played WoW

In conclusion,

Ron Paul 2012
Diablo III 2012

Yeah, for cereal. I'm enjoying it just because it has 8 different "main stories" to go through. It's a massive, massive game, and they're only going to make it bigger. I also like that it isn't grind-based, like you said. I can play an hour or two a day and feel like I make real progress.

If it is a PVP game I tend to steer clear of it unless its a sidebar to the game... paying to play a game what revolutionary idea! Grinding can be done in a way that it is actually enjoyable or it can be a tedious mundane task akin to pulling out weeds. If WoW is the 800lb Gorrilla of MMORP and it is grindlicious prehaps that are doing it in a version that works? Hmmmmm

Thanks bacon for the recommendations keep them coming. MrChaos and Skyrim atm = weekend drinker who binges during the appropriate holidays to stretch an analogy to the breaking

The pvp aspect of this game if your not on a pvp server is warzones. There are 3 of them 2 of which have a story. Alderaan is a domination type match where you fight for turret control to blow up the enemy drop ship. Void star is assault type with 2 rounds one att one def. Your trying to either get or defend plans for a weapon of some sort. And huttball is just running the ball arcoss the map into the endzone.
That being said you dont have to play these games to level. There are plenty of quests on each planet to get you into there target levels on top of that there are space missions which can be repeated. There is also plenty of daily missions for the flashpoints that are old so you still get a good chunk of exp. Every time i log in i feel like i have freedom to level quickly anyway i want. Its not limiting in that way at all and your not pentalized for soloing either. The only problem i have with this game so far is that for the group dungeons (flashpoints) there is no queue. And the general chat is limited so you cant find a group for them easily. Other then that this game is phenomenal.

Thank you Etan for the details, I shall put it on my to-do list based on the players from here playing there... I wonder should I be a bad guy for once?

I was getting ganked in Tatooine last night by a level 50 sage, me being a 30 sniper. Obviously I didn't stand a chance, but when I rezzed, there was extra stealth time to get away compared to the 8 seconds you get when a mob kills you.

I was pleasently surprised.

PvP isn't as bad as it used to be, like on Asheron's Call or something.

Pathetic little moron, should go back to a job search instead of sinking your time into a boring game, trying to justify it. If you are going to base your argument on some dumbass little dismissal of my opinion, you might as well be right.

I am sure that you stalk me and wack off to me all the time Bacon, but you seemed to miss the part where I actually have played the game. A close friend of mine is a huge Star Wars enthusiast and got the game hoping that it would be good. I went over to his place on release, and we tried it out. Besides the games extremely poor quest based grind, the dialogues are as pre-defined and shallow as your other bioware favorite, Dragon Age.

Lets not even start on the "PvP", which tries to copy the WoW battleground system but stumbles over its archaic combat system that is spammy, unresponsive, and zergy. You might as well go grab Everquest and stick a bunch of self-flagellating chimpanzee's in a room, if you want to experience SW:TOR PvP.

If you want to spend 15 dollars a month to ejaculate all over this pathetic excuse for a SW tease, then go ahead. I argue this point because I am tired of morons giving money to game developers, who in turn believe that games like this are any $#@!ing good. I guess when there are "geniuses" like you, though, this can't be helped.
