Windows Version (and Service Packs): Windows 7 Home Premium x64 Service Pack 1
Processor Speed:i7 Q720
RAM: 6 Gig
Video Card (Make and Model#): Dual ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4870
Sound Card (Make and Model#): On Board ATI
Connection Type (Dialup, Cable, DSL, other): Cable
Modem (Make and Model#):
Router (Make and Model#): DLink DIR-625
Internet Service Provider(company name): Comcast
Location(State/Province/Locality, and Country): Washington, USA
Installed Mods: None

Make and Version of firewall: Windows
Make and version of anti-virus: Microsoft Security Essentials

Confirm that you have the following installed:
.Net 2.0 [X]

Problem Encountered at Step #: 7 and In Game (singleplayer training, Probably 2 separate issues)
Which Program (ASGS/Allegiance): Allegiance
What Error Message: None, Program closes and puts me back at the windows desktop. ASGS still running
Comments (What you tried, description, etc): Okay, I have installed and run Allegiance successfully on my old Vista machine which I am no longer using. On my windows 7 machine, I experience 2 different issues. When I try to join a multiplayer game, I see the message of the day briefly (2-5 seconds) then the screen goes black and the program closes and leaves me back at the windows desktop. ASGS is still running. The other lockup I experienced was during the single player training. Any time I would try to fly to a different sector, the backgroud would dissappear. I could still hear engine noise, though moving the joystick and throttle didn't change it, and I could still see the hud. everything else was black and there were no radar contacts. I would really appreaciate any help you could offer me!

Could you post the output of the three log files found in the Allegiance folder, please? (DeviceCreation.log, DirectInput.log and VideoSettings.log)

This sounds like a missing/corrupt artwork file.

Have you tried uninstalling and installing with the latest installer?

Also, I used the installer I downloaded from this site yesterday. I can uninstall and reinstall this evening when I get home from work to see if that helps.

The tutorial doesn't have but the one sector to train in. The other sectors ARE empty which is why you don't see anything.

As for the game crashing, it is happening when Allegiance tries to update files. As soon as you see the message of the day, an updater goes into action and I'm guessing that it is crashing because it cannot write in the protected folder where you installed Allegiance.

Changing users permissions to "Full Control" on the Allegiance folder should fix the problem.

It could be ASGS.

Try running Allegiance.exe directly, without starting ASGS. You can't connect to lobby, but autoupdate should work without problems. After updating close Allegiance and start it via ASGS.
