To me this defeats the whole purpose of team based play lead by one commander even if he gets backseat help

To me the problem of no on wants to command could be fixed by people not being so mean and refusing to fly for or help those who want to command.
Why would someone step into the big chair if he knows he will just get slamed for at least attempting to command

Perhaps if players were nicer more people would want to command

I really don't remember this being a problem during the az days. In fact the way I remember it was people fought to command and once someone got the chair they wouldn't give it up

Of course the player base was bigger and you had more games going on at the same time if you wanted to really command most people just started nother game and waited for players to join

Just my thoughts

Btw is it even possible to do this and if so I say once you have a ai commander the only thing the team should be able to do is defend miners and cons. No investing or changing build orders

It would still be a matter of I kill your miner and cons you kill mine

Well, we don't have the number of players needed for this kind of a game to be at its full potential, and you can't expect the players to change their ways.

I've been tossing around the idea of a continuous metagame that doesn't even need commanders and uses bots, but it'll just get shot down if I went forward with it.
Onslaught game where you capture the bases by your presence. Bots to give players something to shoot at during the quiet hours.

a game with PigComm1 vs PigComm2

vb and js can be used to script so u don't have to be a c++ guru

These bugs haven't been fixed yet because don't have any developers interested in fixing them up. --Tigereye

Well at least we know that's doable since nix had combat drones in figs and ints you could fight and iirc the training missions allowed you to fight drones

Not sure how hard it is to do the base capture thing

I think this is worth exploring but I have no idea how to write code

I salute those who take this up it sounds like fun if done right

We could move this to the dev forum and come up with a basic outline and have the code writers tell us if our ideas are possible

Idea 1
Ai commander who invest in tech one branch at a time buys miners etc etc buys and places ops teles and tech base. Can be mutinied with 2/3rd vote

Idea 2

Non dev game small map one human team vs complete drone ai team

Posting this from my phone so I have time to lay in my bunk and think so more on this

My only question is I don't knowwhat is possible or how hard it is to write code to make either idea even emotely possible

Python please . . . there's a reason it's so successful :ninja: . It also integrates very well in C.

EDIT:
@#(!, I try to avoid C++ but if some commanders got together and came up with a good way to script it, I would definitely help out with Python coding.

can u load windows controls and type libraries in python?

u can script pigs with use Win32; and Perl

if above answer is yes then the underlying support exists already.

Maybe we could just have the decent commanders put their minds together to organize a flow chart, and then those proficient with coding can translate it into terms that work with the game? :P

I suggested this way back..it's a fairly simple way to get the job done. Bugs can be worked out as the non-coding masses whine about them. :P
