He went to the same school as me :) Possibly my only claim to fame.
notjarvis wrote:QUOTE (notjarvis @ Oct 10 2011, 09:35 AM) Nah the board who appointed them needs to take the blame. Did they learn nothing at all from football?

They need to repeat after me 100 times - JUST BECAUSE YOU WERE A GREAT PLAYER DOES NOT MEAN YOU WILL BE A GREAT MANAGER!
Well, it can work out, eg Jurgen Klinsmann. I wouldn't have made the appointment myself - taking a first-time coach & giving him the biggest job in the land. But I'm not sure chucking hi now is the best idea, unless they have an tried & proven replacement lined up.

Wales is going mad for this game. I wish I was back in Wales for it. There will be more people watching it in the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff than there will be at the actual stadium :o The pride & good-feeling given to the Welsh people by this performance is quite something. Also a lot of English people are joining in with cheering us on which is nice to see. Partly because we're the underdog, partly because we're neighbours and partly becuase the exciting play, team spirit & good behaviour off the pitch is in marked contrast to England's sorry efforts.

I'm not sure I'll be able to sleep much tonight at all. On the night before the Ireland match, I woke up 3 or 4 times before my alarm went off at 5:40am, because i was so excited. This time, I woke up twice last night, and that's 2 nights before the match...

COME ON WALES!!!

Jurgen is sortof the exception that proves the rule though.
He's sucked everywhere else he coached which makes the success appear to be more due to the excellent system German appear to run, than purely down to his input.

Anyway - Good luck to Wales. I wouldlove it if you beat them (keeping on theme).

For the ensurance of peace in middle eart, wales had better win.
Mainly because they have been the form side on that side of the comp and also because if they lose and australia win, riots will ensue in NZ (nz have choked too many times before (look up stirling mortlocks intercept in 2003) and ever since the bombing of the rainbow warrior they don't like the french either

Tv on at 5.30pm for me. I predict france falling over badly

Yeah, let's just call tomorrow's match the semi-final.

It was pretty hard to tell who was down to 14 men. Red card was just awful, no malice was there and not consistent with the rest of the world cup. Would've been a great game otherwise. We had 75% territory in the first 15 minutes! But all those kicks.... missed by such narrow margins.... argh..... :(

2 games lost, both by 1 point. Heartbreaking. I'm off to buy a new bike to cheer myself up.

You have to feel sorry for Warburton, he was unlucky to be sent off. He hit Clerc hard and drove on. But the law is that you can't drive a player whose feet are in the air into the ground. The ref didn't have a choice, they have specifically been told to ignore intent. To be fair, I think it is probably better to err on the side of caution, even if it means a cock-up like this, than it is to have a player with a broken neck.

The Welsh lads were excellent. They were prepared for France to come out of the blocks and countered it brilliantly. If they had just managed to make a single kick count it, would have been worthy of a film. They outplayed France for most of the game a man down.

When the ref blew up at the end, you'd have thought that it was England that had been beaten from the reaction in our office.

Commiserations to Gandalf, a great performance and an excellent tournament from Wales though.

I feel sorry for the Welsh they out played France but missed a few kicks..

I think they can be proud scoring the try and keeping France to 1 measley little point.

yeah, warburton loss was really bad, with jones gone for the game due to injury (bad, great player) and Hook nowhere to be found, such a bad timing to play his worse rugby, that was GG right there.
I'm sad, Wales was playing the best rugby of the WC by far

You haven't been watching NZ's games obviously

Nz pulled apart australia last night. It was weipu's failure to land his kicks that made the score flattering
I predict the highest scoring final in world cup history (and I am not talking about the french)
