Also, what percentage of wealth would you say a high school dropout is "entitled to" in his factory job printing crap or stamping out license plates? Any trained monkey can do the job... That's why every job pays different.

The people screaming the loudest are the ones that are only qualified for the "trained monkey" jobs...

People like you sicken me and are the very reason why society continues to move in a backward direction.

You are an empty shell of a human being devoid of tolerance or the ability to empathize.

Shut the $#@! up. Please, grab the nearest lethal object, and kill yourself.

I really tire of people these days...

Does the gun on my hip count?

Maybe its my job that's made me feel like this.

There's only so much you can take when you see people selling their $200 a month foodstamps for $100 cash so they can buy cigarettes and drugs before you believe the whole system is corrupt...

Or when your friend who lost his main job has to tell his part-time boss to either give him less that 25 hours or more than 40 hours so he gets paid enough to make ends meet.

Or seeing the same people in your job over and over, except this time they have a 5th or 6th kid on the way that their 3rd baby-momma brings into visiting to see them while they're locked up in jail. All paid for with my tax dollars...

And when they get out they go screw 3 more idiot women and get 3 more kids on the way that I have to pay for.

It's to the point where I have to wonder if I can afford to have my own children when I'm paying for all the others in America that can't keep from losing their jobs because of drugs/alcoholism/criminal activity.

Take the blinders off your eyes and realize that people like me see what you don't. We see the downfall of things if they continue on this path. We see the people corrupting the programs that help the people you tell me to tolerate and empathize with. I know who DOESN'T deserve what you're championing. And believe me, I know it needs to be around for the people who have a legitimate need for the help. And I'd open my pocketbook to them personally.

But I don't see them... Not in this job...

If the leeches on society aren't dealt with... we're not gonna survive the next recession...

People that can't see the truth sicken me and are the very reason that the social programs are killing America.

Another gem:

Who here knows that, out of everyone who earns a wage, 47% of them don't pay federal income tax?

Wasn't aware, but find it believable. I myself "pay" income tax, only for the fed to give it all back in April.

That is why I advocate radical reform and simplification of the tax code.

My plan is simple...

Keep the tax brackets progressive (the poorest will never generate meaningful revenue anyways).

Lower the tax bracket rates a bit, with the lowest bracket being maybe 1-5%.

Eliminate ALL credits and deductions. Tax ALL income/profits at the same rate, no special incentives for capital investments or stock trading.

Everyone pays at least a token amount for their government.

This will lead to massively higher revenues due to the lack of credits and revenues, which is why I advocate lowering the tax brackets. It will also cause rich people to pay a relatively higher portion of taxes due to the inability to invest in lower tax options.

*but Camaro this really hurts the poor*

Yes that is why I also advocate repealing all payroll taxes both employer and employee side and simply paying for those programs through income tax revenue. The government can continue to collect the W-2s, etc. to calculate Social Security, Unemployment, etc. etc.

This way 100% of the population will be paying income taxes in a more fair manner.

Frankly while some off the stuff he says is crazy I thought he was dead on about our entitlements. Somedays it seems like our Military Industrial Complex is one huge entitlement program!
I'm sorry I don't remember any of it. For you the day spideycw graced your squad with utter destruction was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Sunday

I recently read an Julian Assange interview where he said this:

"There is the modern form of what we used to call the military-industrial complex or the intelligence complex, and there is Wall Street. These two rival groups are vying to be the central dispensers of power in the United States."

I think there is some truth in it.

Sundance,

I know exactly what you see. I can understand your position.

But to generalize and become Jaded because you are employed in a field that is very skewed in it's view of the public is wrong. I am and have been below the poverty line my entire life.

I have also been working since I was 15. It turns out I have a mental illness that interferes with my ability to sustain a normal job and a regular schedule.

I currently have food stamps, and state health care. Both will soon be taken from me because I have chosen to enroll in college to try and better my situation.

I believe the system we have right now is incredibly flawed and simply contributes to the idiocy and criminality of citizens.

Proper education would reduce the number of social delinquents. Social programs that use logic to dictate eligibility would also be a good start.

People are not inherently stupid (usually) or evil (usually). We all start as a blank slate and from there we are shaped by the world around us and the information we receive.

Better information given in a way that is digestible could, theoretically, make a better generation.

The current society we have now no longer cares about quality, or hard work, or work ethic, or intelligence. Our society is concerned with productivity, convenience, commercialism, consumerism, profit margin indexes and ensuring that wealth stays with the wealthy.

Someone born in this era, without being educated to ignore all of it, will be a severely $#@!ed up person. Scratch that, they will be a severely $#@!ed up slave who is easy to manipulate and control.

I also believe that if things don't change we will perish in the next crisis. But the change must be radical and it must be PROGRESSIVE. We can not do things that we have before or the way we are. Because neither will work. We have to think critically about what it means to be a human in the modern world, what responsibilities we have to our neighbors (because whether anyone wants to, we DO have responsibilities to our neighbors), what should be tolerated, what shouldn't be tolerated.

We are in a new age and we are operating on ancient policies. IT WON'T WORK!

Liberty is not yours and yours alone. It is shared with everyone on this planet. At least that's the way it should be. Liberty is a right to everyone, not those who "earn" it or those who have "won the competition". It is EVERYONES right. This is an ideal I am willing to fight and die for, and probably will when the time comes.

Progress is so $#@!ing scary to everyone. Everyone is so scared of losing what they have, that they gag at the thought of helping another human being. It's sick.
It's animalistic.

Shut up, help people, be generous, because if you do I WILL DO THE SAME FOR YOU when the time comes. Why? Because I am able to. I am able to because you enabled me to through your generosity.

Though, of course, I'm just an uneducated high-school drop out who has no idea what anything means.

I dunno, Education in this country has catered to the lowest common denominator, thanks to Bush... amongst other policies...

Education today is inferior to that of a few decades ago when kids were placed in different tracks and taught according to their relative abilities.
