wassup with Hollywood these days. They lack imagination ?
Don't get me wrong, Blade Runner is a great stuff but it's too 'old' for a sequel or a prequel. And it's too legendary to be linked to another movie even one by Scott himself.
They don't even have a script yet.
And it's not like there isn't great stories available in the scifi/fantasy literature (Asimov, Vance, Heinlein, Clark, Lem, van Vogt, etc). Hell most Hugo awards stuff don't have a movie adaptation yet. I read somewhere Foundation was considered as well as Ender's Game but that's pretty it.
I guess they just want to take no risk by using the 'Blade Runner' franchise. It's a pity.

I would just prefer some original movies, it's what made me love District 9, also I feel it's like stealing when you 're-create' a piece of work whether it be film or book, it just screams of no originality and just using it to spin money.
What Hollywood needs is a random word generator to make some original films.
Heck using thisI have come up with 'My Ungainly Member' the story of a man with a weird cock. It practically writes itself!

I thought they were?Heyoka wrote:QUOTE (Heyoka @ Aug 18 2011, 08:52 PM) I personally would love to see an Ender trilogy movie adaptation.
But of course the movie would likely do the books no justice.

I'd really like to see a TV series based on StarControl2 story. Would be hilarious.

Come on now, they could have left the Batman franchise stuck in permanent ambiguously gay-land (I'm lookin' at you, George Clooney and Chris O'Donnel with your nipple laden vinyl outfits), but instead it became the Awesome Dark Knight movie (and pretty good Batman Begins movie) when talent was added. If they can cook off a good story in the same universe, I say bring on the entertainment!
If they can attach a good writer to make a story and not a "writing team" of 12 different people from 8 different publishing houses trying to make an acceptable product, then I'll get my hopes up!
