So, anybody else have RB 3?

It's a really nice upgrade for the series, and the pro instruments are really fun. My favorite is the keyboard (or keytar, eighties style), but I'm also slowly learning to play the Mustang guitar.

I remember Germ talking about getting this quite a while back. Did you, and if you did, what do you think?

I don't like the new Career mode in RB3 and how they have fallen into the peer pressure of unlocking all the songs at the start which makes the crappy new career mode even more useless. Keyboard is pretty cool but haven't tried pro guitar properly, not really any difference for pro-drums.

No? I think it's great to have the cymbals. It makes a world of difference to just banging on four discs.

Oh, and I really disliked having to "open up" songs. This is much more the adult way of doing things. It's about playing music, not grinding away at some mini game.

I got the uber controller with the 7 horizontal buttons on each fret. I think i spent a few hours banging my head against the wall trying to figure it out before i gave up in disgust. I threw away the controller when i moved in February. RB3 had a few songs that were fun to play with the old school controller, if i remember right. 3s&7s by queens of the stone age and The Sultans of Swing by Dire Straits. I could be mixing it up with Guitar Hero 5 though.

GH5 had a way better lineup of songs imo

So much for all the hype. :(

I'm quite of the opposite opinion Germ. I think the song selection is brilliant with Queen, Doors and the entire London Calling album by Clash on download.

The guitar controller is difficult to master, but I'm slowly getting there. The keyboard controller is awesome, and vocal harmonies sinsing is amazingly fun.

Wouldn't it be better just to learn to play guitar?

Never felt the urge to do that. The game's approach to learning to play instruments appeals to me. Nice visuals and feedback.

Well guitar hero already did it so it was a bit meh, would have thought their would be hi-hat pedal as well or something to make it pro-drums.

As for the unlocking songs I suppose that's individual to everyone, me and my friends preferred the old career mode unlocking songs and venues, felt more like a band in RB2 then RB3 where it was more like Guitar Hero's party mode. Also biggest disappointment for me in RB3 was the removal of versus mode, I mean wtf was that? Me and my friend had a tradition of having a bass battle on Hysteria (muse) which was woefully unfulfilled with RB3.

I guess we want different things from the game Sharpie. I'm very glad it lets me enjoy the music without putting in any "gamey" stuff like that. I'm also enjoying the flexibility of the character creator. Nothing like an uncanny valley escapee version of yourself (and your friends) rocking it out on the stadium.
