A bit mystical, but I like the way you think.

I also think that the world is changing because of the communications revolution. The web, wikipedia, even silly things like Facebook really are making the world a smaller and more interconnected place.

Whoa gentle on this poor african soul.

I got roads here, buddy, and cell phones. And pizzas. Even if I could get geeked for my handy after dark.

Let me just float a slightly off topic dollop on anti english froth here. The chinese boxer rebellion arose because the chinese were systematically addicted to the drug Opium. Prior to this western gold was flowing into china, due to the demand for chinese goods. So the opium trade was legalised, and lo and behold, the flow of money reversed due to the drug addiction fed by all and sundry. Including the germans, no doubt. Prissy little colonialist amateurs they were in comparison to the english.

There are books- of questionable authority I admit- exposing the underbelly of colonization. Written in reaction to losing 2 world wars to the british and the few colonies they had- but they do exist.

I feel I should add to this discussion that besides being stomped on by colonialism and disease, Africa is just... a bad place to live.
From what I understand they have very little viable agriculture, and no agriculture means = no civilization, at least, not a stable one.

That said, if I remember correctly, I do believe that one African nation managed to invent steel before Europe (or anyone else), oh and there was Egypt and another country along the Nile that did pretty well - until they got conquered by the then - Muslim empire - (I think?)

So I guess its a tribute to humanity's ingenuity that these things came about despite Africa's poor climate/terrain.

As for the lesbian issue (or OT I guess, lol?)... Seriously, live and let live. Why is this so hard for people?

Ask SgtMajor/Megan_Fox. He might know since he slams doors in the faces of lesbians.

Currently we are "helping" by delivering lots of free food and clothes. That means that local producers can't compete. Why buy a t-shirt of local cotton when the europeans / americans are giving them away for free. Same goes for farming.

If we want to help, we need to buy the stuff from local producers, not used Africa as a dumping ground for our surplus.
