Hi Jaime,

To disable ASGS on your game server add the following to the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Allegiance\1.0\Server

ASGS_ON = 0 (DWORD)
ASGS_RANKS_ON = 0 (DWORD)

I believe that should do it, but I'm a bit rusty in this area.

Not trying to make my own community, persay, but yes, my own personal thing. I don't agree with ASGS linking. (Yes, I understand it's a perfectly wonderful security system, but one that keeps my family from playing freely)

That did it! thanks!

On another note, in response to some lobby error I looked up the registry keys. I can't seem to figure out what some of these are for....

ASGS Ranks simply truncates the (X) (Past whatever number) and puts a rank there for it.

no dont think imago, i was on board with helping YP (think Your_Persona) and i will be on board in helping this guy (OP) if he needs it. This is how @#(! gets done. Like how you can now run Beta and Retail servers on the same machine (thank MrChaos and dont mind me as i pat myself on the back and maybe get a donation for the T&E I've spent)

edit this: to the OP, also check out the old guide at http://freeallegiance.sf.net

These bugs haven't been fixed yet because don't have any developers interested in fixing them up. --Tigereye

GAH! All that work, and when I try to connect to a game using a name not registered in ASGS(JamieT4653) it says callsign does not exist on server. Fine. means I need my own callsign database. WRONG! Use my ASGS Jamie96, it works fine.

ALL THOSE REG ENTRIES TO SAY NO ASGS, AND IT STILL NEEDS/USES IT!

Jump on IRC http://webchat.quakenet.org/
Channel #freeallegiance

And let's see if some real-time help can get things done.

on the game server add asgs.alleg.net 127.0.0.1 into your hosts file. this has been corrected in R6 (you can now specify the server auth/rank url in an INI file)

I'll go try that when I get back to my dev machine.

I thought I was using R6? It's the one in trunk right?

Well, hosts setting made is stop saying the callsign didnt exist, but then when I join a game, I can't disable a team and force start, and when I try to edit game settings the client crashes.

Why can't Tigereye wake up and help? No offence but I only ever see him idling on IRC.

I think what has to be done, is a code edit to remove ASGS. Or, give me my own ASGS setup, without the account linking crap. The 3 per ip limit is bad enough.

the problem you are now having has nothign to do with ASGS (as it's not in the mix) you now probably have an artwork issue. make sure the artwork in SVN is available to your client/server (hence the crash) ?
