After milking the East Euro's and Rusians they now start targeting the rich markets of America.

How brutal they are, no shame. Post their full name and address. Heh!

Anyway, the whole thing is just a pc locker. There is no hard coded serial anymore. With a tiny bit of regedit you can disarm this nasty one and impress your friends and boss.

Removal instructions here:

Optional last step:

Donate 10% of the ransom fee to alleg, and never click on those weird links again.

Name search on that guy turns up that he has registered "best-vpn.com" with lots of free downloads.

I'm sure the two things are not related.

Thanks peet. Bookmarked in case my wife does something stupid on facebook.
Thankfully her user account is basic user without power user or admin privileges for ~anything~, so she *should* be safe. (and yes, power user *is* just about as bad as giving users admin in XP.)

Xyl is one of my Heroes.

He faces dangerous guys head on. Some of these heroes keep a low profile. Most malware groups are arrogant, have no one to fear, and have the potential to digitally harass others.

Xyl decompiles malware and gives unlock codes - for free.

On his blog and YouTube he publishes the more "harmless" malware (scareware + pc lockers). He's also active on special fora where really dangerous malware is discussed. Malware that can really do serious damage, and very hard to detect and clean. Stuff I do not want to touch with a 10 foot pole.
