I'm young and I'm not putting up with this @#(!. I'm not going to allow myself to be mediocre.
If a garbage job payed well enough to allow me to actually make a decent living, $#@! I wouldn't bitch.
But since the amount of work put into something is not on the same scale as the amount of pay, I'm $#@!ed.
I worked plenty of @#(! jobs. I also got promoted in every one of them.
I paid my own way through college with scholarships and loans.
If you work hard and make good choices it's still possible to do well even with a @#(!ty start.
Blaming the system is likely an indication of the piss poor attitude thats helping to keep you back.

That kind of attitude kind of annoys me. "*I* succeeded, so everyone else can also, even though I don't actually know what their situation is compared to mine! It's theoretically possible to succeed, therefore there are no problems in the system at all!" Yeah, and I'm sure if you were a dirt-farming peasant in the middle ages it's *theoretically* possible that you'd climb your way to the top using subterfuge and a series of exciting cloak-and-dagger adventures, so hey, feudalism must be a pretty great and perfectly fair system too.

He said he was doing just that until his disability flared up.
Heyoka, I would say that if the disability is what has you in a hole and you could be getting social security as a result of the disability but refuse to take it the problem isn't the system. I applaud your resilience, but at some point you have to do what is right for you and only you can make that choice. The system is designed specifically to help people like you. The one thing I would caution you on is getting into the 'blame the system' mentality, especially when you aren't really using the system the way it was designed. At some point you stop sounding like someone who is trying to pull themselves up by their bootstraps (which seems to be what you are) and more like someone who is making excuses and is not willing to do what it takes to pull through the hard times (which seems to be what you don't want to become). If you keep on this path too long any employer is going to question why you haven't worked for so long. Without some sort of definitive proof, such as passing the standards to get onto SS disability, its going to sound more like an excuse rather than a genuine ailment. Understand what I mean?
72% of ppl filing taxes make $52k a year or less... you are rich my friend .. my family (wife and i) she has a masters, i have a bachelors, and i run my own business= combined income last year ~$45k and we do ok, especially for my area.
cams progressive tax is interesting but will never work, since the rich rule this nation.
i would be fine with a flat tax, most rich would not.
Holy $#@! DG. 45k???? Have you considered moving or switching fields of employment???
I'm sorry I don't remember any of it. For you the day spideycw graced your squad with utter destruction was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Sunday

I would be thrilled with a flat tax. Just about any non-progressive wealthy person I know feels the same way. Most conservatives regardless of wealth would be fine with a flat tax. Most libertarians would accept a flat tax regardless of wealth. Most progressives regardless of wealth are not fine with a flat tax. The lines of division aren't drawn in terms of wealth. Its ideology.
