I can only assume you are talking about myself and I do feel shocked that you think that is what I think. It is true I don't hold a great love for AS but it is superior to it's predecessors ELO and HELO, I hardly hold it against you or SgtB for creating it, nor am I against matched play (autobalance is broken though).

I think your crazy and your tactical judgements in-game tend to err on the side of err but I can only think of good things of you when it comes to your server and rankings.

Dear HSharp

I was being farcical or is it fartical :unsure: no matter. At no time have I thought anything but the warmest of warm thoughts about you ( just last night as a matte :doh: off track again where was I?) sorry if you took me seriously

edit: Oh and Allegiance's current AB is based on HELO i.e. it was never updated

You’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t

Any perceived or real issues regarding latency becomes the rally cry of the whingy and sucks on toast crowd ( many times they are card carrying members of both… Brood being a fine example this is not universally true :lol: )
If you don’t deal with the common human trait of I like to win, it makes my naughty bits all tingly addiction then the game sucks on toast. If you do deal with the neurosis then you run smack into another issue regarding the I want it and I want it now human nature impulse.

So as long as you have a large enough player base you have no issues BUT if you don’t then the other elements become like the 800 ln burping aardvark sitting in your favorite chair.

:huh: Annoying as hell and ruining the chair of course ;)

The ironic thing is World of Tanks is definitely one of the closest games to being "Allegiance on the ground." It's not personally how I'd go about it if it was called Quantus but meh this is World War 2 we're talkin' here.

Now we both know that there are certain peoples who couldn't save their self from a fly with ping greater than 50 ms but there's more to do in WoT than just going around shooting stuff. Light tanks are definitely the best scouts and if you try anything else with them you either better be $#@!in' good or that big bad Tiger tank is gonna blow you all the way home to momma. As a scout your main goal is to spot enemy targets for your artillery and kill enemy artillery. Just keep moving because speed here is your best friend. There's no better feeling than going through a prox-camped aleph at full speed and surviving . . . oops wrong game :blush: .

Medium tanks are alike to light tanks but with a bit more armor and some heavy tank-like guns. They aren't as fast as light tanks but your M4 Sherman can usually bounce off a round or two before you're toast unless they knocked off your tracks, but why leave your tracks vulnerable? Usually if you're in a medium tank and you're not out defending your artillery from enemy scouts you stay a bit behind the big hunks of metal heavy tanks. You have similar firepower as them and if your Armor Piercing rounds aren't penetrating then switch to High Explosive. Just don't go head to head with a tank destroyer and you're pretty much fine.

Tank destroyers are the snipers (stealth fighters) and can only shoot one in front of them (well actually the new American TDs are supposed to be different but I haven't checked them out yet -- I do know that the M3 Lee was a pain in the ass when I moved from the M2 Medium Tank to the M4 Sherman). You've got a faster-than-normal reload speed and a lower signature than others. You can definitely kill most anything in the game but you better watch your back too . . . hide in a bush and guard your artillery. It depends on the map of course, though. I mean if your in urban territory fighting in streets it is a bit different.

Like I said heavy tanks are the big shields in front protecting everyone. They are slow as the molasses you lubed up with last night (especially the russian tanks) and there is no way your turret will turn fast enough to keep up with that light tank that is circling you, but as long as you stay behind cover from enemy artillery you should be okay.

Artillery have the biggest baddest guns in the game and you will curse them a lot because you were too stupid to go out in the big open field. They have very very @#(!ty armor but they can also shoot really far. I've seen artillery that has stayed right behind the heavy tanks the entire game and that is dangerous but can sometimes be your best method of protection -- this way you're never out of radio range from your front line and can see everything they see. Just don't get too full of yourself because big guns are absolute @#(! when you can't point it at someone fast enough.

So remember kids and grandpas, latency only matters when your trying to kill someone in a head-to-head match, which is generally frowned upon anyway.

All of this is from the beta version, I don't know how drastic the changes were.

Pretty good sum up Fuzz.

I'll reserve my judgement on the wisdom of split EU / USA server until I spot the first 300 ms ping tanks jumping around. If lag is handled different from Allegiance, and only hurts the people playing long distance, then it's of course just individual choise.

So far I haven't seen jumping worth commenting on (tanks accelerate slowly), but then I'm sure practically everbody is playing on the server closest to them.

All that said, it will be cool to see Icky and the rest of you icky yanks playing with us euros. :thumbsup:

I have put in probably 6-8 hours at this point. My ping is almost always a steady 120-150, so no complaints. I have seen players jumping but they are the only ones, so I'm sure it's their connection not mine.

Very very fun game so far. Does feel a little grind-y but it's still a load of fun.

It's better for my schedule than alleg at the moment, since I have small blocks of time available, and I can play a few games in 30 mins or so (instead of waiting for 25 mins for a game to start then suiciding on miners).

+1,

me: "want to play TANKS?"
someone: "sure"
<loads up>
Create platoon + invite
Me: "what tier?"
someone: "5"
me: "cool, i'll go with my T-34"
someone: "lets go"
<punch it>

All that would be done within 5min and every game thereafter would be even faster.

And best of all playing with fellow Allegiance pilots you know they undestand something about signature, consentrating force and taking advantage of openings when opportunity comes knocking.

The in-game voip is very nice as well. We should totally have that in Allegiance one of these decades.
