I was 13 years old when I first played this game.

He's been making Bacon for ages! 1999? We didn't even have the internet in Australia back then outside of the most cutting edge University computer labs and secret cryptanalysis offices. Probably anyway. I started at the end of '05, at the tender age of 15. I gave up on Alleg almost a year ago but I remember 2006-2008 being one of the best gaming experiences of my life. I was slamming noobs left and right all day long in high school and the beginning of university, but sadly that is no longer a part of my life.

Hell, I haven't posted here for months, but I saw this thread and it just gave me an overwhelming sense of nostalgia. I had a lot of fun, even on my @#(!ty 1Mbps ADSL connection from Australia with an awesome 200ms ping, and most fell before me like scum falls before a squad of Warp Spiders. Rocking a 45% command win percentage, trying in vain to anti stack, ridin' Patties, those were some good times.

So yeah, Allegiance was good while it lasted, so I give my thanks to all the people who kept it alive for so many years. The servers, core makers, and just the people who play it day in and day out make it a game unlike anything before or since. I don't think there's any other game out there that has survived so long without the support of its developer, but just on the shoulders of a dedicated and hardcore community.

Props.

I feel like such a newb. :stare: I just found out about this game yesterday. I didn't even know that this game has been AROUND for so long.

I dropped in on this game when I had dialup in or around Y2k, I was barely 5 or 6.... when people recommended it to me, I was like "woah, this is familiar"

It feels good to be back, even if I had no clue what I was doing at that time

Falcon 4.0 was published in 1998 and is still played and maintained by the community - one of the best flight sims ever with a learning curve similar to Allegiance
