Does the game advertise itself at all?

Raum: I never said the game was broken. I just thought I'd plug the mentoring idea that brought me to the game after the beta was done. You just repeated my privious posts. I said the game seemed to play better. And the reason I gave was the community expends time and effort to keep it playing. They have always tried to address gameplay issues. Although Pook and Tighereye could not get me back a few years ago when you guys dropped Windows 98. LOL sry The dang computer still ran. I'm cheap and refused to upgrade to the horrors of 2k, mil and when xp finally came to its own I surcomed to the upgrade pressures. Thank you for clearing up the Intel question. Its graphics card issues? Look online on any high end game. You play on a certain card or you don't play. This game has always been more versital than any other online game out there.raumvogel wrote:QUOTE (raumvogel @ Jan 27 2011, 12:54 PM) jbansk and zecros you are both wrong. The game isn't "broken"....we've been playing it and having fun with it for over 10 years. All online multiplayer games have lag issues. That's just part of reality. Just because a few computers with certain onboard Intel graphics controllers have to be run in windowed mode to play..DOESN'T MEAN THE GAME IS BROKEN,OMG, AND WE SHOULDN'T ADVERTISE IT! ( the large caps "panic" is yours, I'm not yelling at you).![]()

Raum,
This R5 version of Allegiance IS broken. It is plagued with bad code in so many areas it's unbelievable. I can tell by your quick response to declare everything "OK", except for lag which is common among online games, demonstrates; you have no knowledge or exposure to the development side of Allegiance. No offense intended.
Advertising Allegiance in this current state would be a PR disaster.
Just wanted to add, for those who wish to get more involved, the bug list can be found here.

[15:25] <BBT_> oh, so da vinci's mona lisa isn't his work?
[15:25] <+fuh-zz> No, he simply put effort into it.
[15:25] <BBT_> are you really that retarded?

While this is true and has stopped and made us think and wait for R6 for a larger push, we still all advertise. Be it the guys from the marketing forum like myself or just people who decide to do a write-up or spotlight feature on us.jbansk wrote:QUOTE (jbansk @ Jan 28 2011, 01:24 PM) Raum,

People coming in now, would not be a disaster, but it could cost us a chunk in retention due to hiccups. Luckily PKKs new installer is off the wall, seriously pro work. R6 is starting to look good due to yet again PKK cleaning code up.
I help run 2 networking sites with friends of mine, I also have AGC which is getting about 100 unique hits a day, I am heavily involved with a lot of the eSports clans out there atm. Dorjan works for a gaming website, Adept does write-ups in finnish for us, badp is constantly finding new and inventive ways to get us more players, Sai and NotJ have organised our new newsletter, Lans is using his multimedia skills getting us noticed on YouTube. Theres honestly a lot more going on that I could go on for ages.
As stated the marketing is there, we are still getting a steady-ish amount of new members, but we are still fallling short on retention. Be it because of the Intel issue(r6 fixed iirc), the old installer making you download 4 different files to run the game, the graphics(not really an issue, but a lot of kiddies like eye candy these days(Crisis for example), or just the Vets/Voobs being dickwads ingame(funnily enough the biggest dicks on the forum are the biggest helpers on the field).
As usual Marketing, general members and admins/ZLs are always looking for new ways to get and retain players, however we are running a community driven, 11 year old game, that costs a @#(!loads to run while also tying our hands behind our back due to licensing restrictions.
Have some faith, people who have been here a long time have seen this game in a far worse state than it is now, players and gameplay.
