Some bunch of jackasses have decided that, as always, exp is overpowered. Except at this moment specifically, the issues seem to be the folowing
a) pulse probes make miner killing too easy
b) pulse probes make deprobing too easy
c) pulse probes are too powerful vs tac
and ultimately are somehow the cause of your losses.
unfortunately for you
a) you could remove PPs entirely and it will have little to no significant impact on a miners life; Your miners are still going to die, and you're still going to lose because of it.
b) you could remove PPs entirely and it will have little to no significant impact on anything that comes in conjunction with deprobing; If someone's decided to deprobe, it will be done regardless.
but I do believe that
c) pulse probes are too powerful vs tac, and on that note, make pulse probes "pulse" for like 1 second and die
all these other radical ideas are just stupid.
Or you could just remove PPs entirely, and then you'll still end up losing, and go looking for some other Exp related thing to nerf because you're not satisfied.
Pulse Probes
Well, the current pulse probe fix seems to be working surprisingly well. (played a tac game last night and pp 1 gave us a fighting chance ( I was flying as Tac), imagine that
it may have even made it a bit skewed in our favor
will have to play more Tac games to find out.)
I am concerned about this whole "Nerf PPs even more, then nerf Tac by making SF sigs higher" thing, how big a raise are we talking here?
It would kinda be a shame to get things semi-balanced then cripple SFs again.
Generally, I agree with Masta, a big change isn't really necessary, most times people just don't know how to fly Tac,

That's pretty much the aim of community core. It's balance for pugs.Vanaka wrote:QUOTE (Vanaka @ Jan 26 2011, 03:05 PM) Generally, I agree with Masta, a big change isn't really necessary, most times people just don't know how to fly Tac,

I very much like the idea of the pulse lasting less time.Mastametz wrote:QUOTE (Mastametz @ Jan 26 2011, 07:22 PM) make pulse probes "pulse" for like 1 second and die
Also fwiw, if most people like the pp1/pp2 concept, in it's current form pp1 is not at all that much different than pp2 effectively.

yes, and it's kind of a problemRealPandemonium wrote:QUOTE (RealPandemonium @ Jan 26 2011, 02:50 PM) That's pretty much the aim of community core. It's balance for pugs.
when you balance for the lower skill values, people really have no incentive to play better. why would they when they realize they can just whine and throw tantrums about how they got whored by ints or how tac sucks or how sup is terrible and they'll get core changes to compensate for their poor play?

I totally agree with this post.NightRychune wrote:QUOTE (NightRychune @ Jan 27 2011, 09:14 AM) yes, and it's kind of a problem

It pains me to see what a dogs breakfast CC is becoming as people only whine about the tech and don't make an effort to improve. Instead you just want to whine and nerf whatever tech pods you rather than understand the game being about economy and tech. So now people whine about PP just cos people can't fly tac properly
No wonder so many vets don't bother playing or just play squad games.

also we have been playing with PP for years now. Many times this has resulted in a tac win cos people can sneak abs in or kill miners early. Why is now PP such a huge problem? Cos skill level is so bad we have to nerf PP. Let's nerf mini3 too cos brood and some rank 6 the other day pods me.
