I'm maybe a few hours to late, but FAZ Beta got updated a few days ago...
INSTRUCTIONS FOR BETA:
If you do not already have it installed, you will need to install the Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable.
You should also make sure you have the latest DirectX 9 installed.
Some files on dev folder got updated, so please delete all files within your dev folder.
Start with an up to date Allegiance install.
In ASGS select "Allegiance -> Beta Mode".
Still in ASGS, select "Help -> Update / Repair Critical Files".
Click "Login". The updater will run again, downloading the beta client.
After the updater has finished, click "Login" again.
Enjoy the beta! Find or create a game and test away!
When you are done, there are a couple steps to get back on the regular servers.
Turn off beta mode "Allegiance -> Beta Mode".
Revert to the regular client "Help -> Update / Repair Critical Files"
Play as normal!
NEW - FAZBeta Preparation Setup
If you no longer want to download Allegiance.exe before and after switching into BETA mode (see instructions above), you can run this handy installer:
FAZBeta Setup.exe (152 KB)
What does this installer do:
Reads EXE Path and ArtPath of regular Allegiance installation.Sets EXE Path (to ...\Allegiance\beta) and ArtPath (same as regular installation) of beta Allegiance installation.Deletes dev folder content.

The history of open-source Allegiance is paved with the bodies of dead code branches, forum flame wars, and personal vendettas. But a community remains because people still love the game.
