QUOTE For the archives, here is the list of the 535 newsgroups which were removed
on December, 10th 2009 on msnews.microsoft.com, which implied that only
1772 newsgroups remained.

Well, the real legacy is here:
http://web.archive.org/web/20001119020400/...049&page=10

(pages 1 to 10 are all that's left from 2000, the other pages take you to 2001-2002... and you can't read the individual posts)

Only a bunch threads are actually archived.

QUOTE Gat2 or 3 or ac works good on roids. Takes a bit of time but a crew taking 5 min to clean up your sector won't be too much of a detriment.[/quote]

All those useless pods floating away on a cool breeze. And getting shot by people who pride themselves on getting people home as quick as possible. Thank you pod killers. You are my heroes.

Thalgor wrote:Well, think about it...who's the noisiest group around? INTWHORES! What to intwhores love to do? They zoom in, kill a couple things, then zoom back when they're damaged. This is just what ints were designed to do, and the sterotypical intwhore has become very good at it. What they have NOT become very good at is CHECKING their LOADOUT before they launch. Takes half a second, and it quite worth the effort to HAVE the light boosters for those that know how to use them.

Anon wrote:Trick that noone has tried but I think could work:

Lead a bomber group in with a carrier. The bomber and nans can then dock through the carrier on the way to the base if they got damaged at the aleph. Nice to get those med 3 shields back up to max on the way in. Will cause a temp stoppage of the turrets though.

FuriousPhoenix wrote:Belter cruisers can load nerve gas missles which cost 1000 each. Nerve gas missles can and will capture any base once its shields are down. You can take out the shields of teleports, refineries and special mines without blowing it up with 1 cruise mk1 missle. Meaning Belter cruisers can capture not only outposts and tech bases but if they fire 1 cruise missle at a giga special mine and then fire a nerve gas missle at it...you can capture it and receive the money and use it as a rip.

PolecatEZ wrote:Keeping pod bombers from taking out your bases is easy, post your own drone AC near the base you want to protect. Pods wink out as soon as they are launched. Just tested this out in a one on one...gonna try it in a full game.

Even though I was playing a ridiculous amount of alleg at the time, I completely missed this side of the game, due to my youth and my parents' paranoia of the Internets (not entirely unfounded). It's neat to see how much things have and have not changed.

This was the reason why for the last 10 years I have mostly nanned miners...it wins games! :

As probably one of the best "Sneaky Bastard" Stealth pilots around. (no brag, just a little fact, ask any comm) It is very hard to defend against a good stealth pilot. Especially one who stays just within missle range and is constantly moving. But....I get my butt waxed the most by a few hardcore players. Finally found out how, so I'll pass it on. SCOUTS, not fighters for defense of miners first off. Second, make a defender marry a miner. Back and forth the whole trip. Last, MRM's, not SRM's. Huh? you say! Found out that is how they were wasting my butt, especially in belter s/f. For some reason the new MRM's are stronger. They tell me they load almost all missles to defend with. It takes almost a full load, but they have been killing on regular basis if i try to stay out LR and use missles only. Usually takes 2 scouts to do this.
