Sounds eminantly sensible to me. This community is just about large enough to have more than one game running at a time but getting people to move from the 'main' server is almost impossible. If the chatting were to take place in the lobby it'd be much easier.

I do have one fast and solid recommendation to fix the DN server problem

Only allow VETS on it VET 2 & up or so - then only stackers can stack stackers. let them yell at each other
No more complaints about comms who cant comm and games that are not "real"

The rest of us can play on NON VET intermediate servers. Stackers stay home on the DN server.

And a NOOB heaven server.

..................................................

Now about the current NOAT lobby thing:

Well think about it just a bit.

Where can you wait to join a game right now ?

A. You can wait in the available game server listing screen
.... Who does this ? Almost no one - you can't chat here and you can't see who is on a team etc.
.... It gets all lonely and boring just watching server lists change status

SO .... that brings us to

B. You can join the NOAT lobby of a deserted server and turn it into a chat room. Each Team and Noat can be a "team chat" chat room.
....CHat heaven - right ?
....Who does that ? Peeps who need a little privacy and mentor time etc. Maybe trying to start another server someday.

BUT ....... we might be missing the juicy games..... SO

C. You can wait in an active game NOAT lobby.
.... Who does that ? Almost everyone.
.... You get to chat and talk about the messed up teams etc. Then when the pickings look good, jump in.
.... So you chat and very easily join.

Many years ago with 3 or more good sized games going we went from game to game sitting on lobby to find the best game.
We jumped into the good ones and they got bigger and bigger until maxed out. Almost everyone on noats was trying to join. "Sector Overload"

Sitting on Noats in those days was just taking a break if afk. Comm would boot anyone that was not active so you had to leave and sit on NOAT lobby.

............................................................

Now NOATS judge the quality of the teams and comms. Lets just camp here until we like it. Watch a little tv, read a book, mess with ...
Try changing the game to capture the flag, DM , mutiple teams, funny money. "NO-NO" everything has to be "like a real DN game"
then you play the "real game" and it really sucks. The same game .. over and over and over. Not better for me than a "fun game" to break up the strict agenda.

Now its hard to get them to leave noats to join a game or another server. Even with 80 peeps.
"The in place" to be for a game is NOAT lobby. 30 in game, 40 in noat.

And that is because there is no better place to wait right now.
It has been adapted to it to dominate total Alleg game play and what we are allowed to do to have fun.

The only activity that I have seen on other servers is 1 vs 1 and noobs using them for noob servers.
I used to play weekends on the other servers to avoid DN. Not possible lately.

Interesting stuff. I like it. It cuts down on the unwanted heckling and allows players to concentrate on playing. Can we name the NOAT server "Days of Our Lives"? /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />

I think this is an excellent idea. It'd be nice to have some way of communication between game lobbies too.

But even if not, a main lobby chat would go a long way to open up other game possibilities.

I like it.
