I don't care if 100% of the projects are not totally secure as long as I know that its more risky to install any free game you can find on Internet.
A game on Sourceforge IS "any free game you can find on Internet". There's NOTHING that makes Sourceforge software better or more attractive in any way than non-Sourceforge software.

It's not a question of "better". I believe F_T is arguing that the sourceforge name brings a degree of credibility to some users because some users will value the sourceforge "brand". You may not, I may not, but some may associate a positive with it, and as such it might be a decent idea to use that particular brand as incremental promotion. Just like car manufacturers tout their "JD Power Best Car In Its Class, that is Yellow, on a Slow Tuesday Afternoon" accolades even if people in the know know that it's worthless - most don't, so the manufacturers continue to use the association to their advantage.

Thanks Freebeer for saying what I was trying to say.

Especially when you don't compete with commercial with amazing graphics, you have to find players who share another philosophy, our philosophy (gameplay before graphics). Sourceforge is a perfect exemple.
I'm going to repeat myself (but it sounds that some have difficulties to follow) but a game like bzflag is famous because it's on Sourceforge. You say "why should we do that? Give a reason", but you don't give me any reason not to do it.

And damn it, if it brings just 3 players, it won't have been useless ! But one thing is sure 100%. We don't do it and we'll never know.

I just don't understand how some people make some much effort not to do something. Explain to me how to do it myself, 10% of my time spent in order to explain here would have been more than enough to do it.

No, BZFlag is "famous" because it's a free BattleTanks clone. SourceForge is nothing but a public code repository with project management features. It's no different from Google Code or any of a dozen other projects, except that it's the preferred site for insufferable Linux fatties that make UB look humble by comparison.

The last thing you want to do is bring attention to this game in its current state.

[15:25] <+fuh-zz> No, he simply put effort into it.
[15:25] <BBT_> are you really that retarded?

ahhh then why are we still discussing the merits of putting it on? I actually did read the thread, honest. I seems to me if we are shouting about what kind of car to buy when it's already sitting in the garage and already has it's first parking lot scratchs.

 what the hell is the discussion point now

btw pkk thanks for the clue bell ring it seems to have at least got me reading out of the same hymnal now
