Have tried many times but come up with an "error" of sort, saying the the newer version of dx is already installed.

Avast has a "shield"..some would consider that a firewall. I don't know the negative consequences of un-installing DX11 on Win7..but the game needs DX9.0c .

BTW, i'm running Avast with the shield on...on the worlds oldest computer, so I wouldn't think that would be a problem.

It also has a "silent/gaming" mode if you right click on the tray icon. You might try that.

Wait. You have 64-bit. Isn't there some odd quirk where the game needs to be installed under some other path (or the paths need to be edited in the registry to point to the 32-bit path.)

I don't have any experience with Win7 and even less with the 64-bit versions. My post isn't particularly helpful, but it make prod an idea out of someone else who's run into it before.

I have uninstalled avast, and firewall (windows) is turned off.

Link in the "64 bit" thread is broke.

Hmm

Can you try doing a Tracert to autoupdate.alleg.net and post up the results in a

Code: Select all

please? It might show how good a connection you get to the lobby server.

The only other thing I'm thinking of is it may be a problem with your router blocking things somehow. May be worth going into your router's settings to see if there is anything being stopped there.
