Using the Arisman Codex art for this is an awesome idea.

Thanks, for the art notjarvis, I'll check it out. Maybe if we kept the buttons at the bottom, but reskined them like in the second one?

Yeah - check the wiki article- there's a link to the Torrent for download. More than 30 CD's worth of random art and models and stuff. It's nice just to browse through....

Once upon a time I was working on making the original titlescreen usable again. Subtitle is gone, and the buttons are moved around so as to be appropriately numbered and spaced. I don't recall what else I needed to do to make it work, undoubtedly something otherwise I would have had a sexy green titlescreen available somewhere for download. :P

The .psd I was working with.

The Arisman stuff also has graphics for the mouseovers on those buttons on the 2nd screen notjarvis posted. I can't remember if there's a .psd with everything separated out into layers though. Still, it's a sexy screen to work with.

I tried rebuilding the arisman GUI, unfortunately there isnt enough stuff to compile a full GUI.

Also the fact mainscreenbckgrnd.png is still on ASGS lockdown means you cant really use the opening screen at all. I fell into this when I was rebuilding Slipstream and my new GUI.

That's a disappointment  ,is there any chance that we may be able to modify the source code, or create a new system? It would be a hell of a lot of work.

It's not a problem with the game's source code. Our separate authentication program maintains a list of "protected" files and won't let you connect if you change any of them. Core files, for example, are on this list so that players can't alter their local copy to give themselves ab missiles and 20x hull on all their ships.

Supposedly there's a reason for including the title screen on this list of critical files, but I don't remember why.
There is currently a replacement for ASGS being developed (the Community Security System). Perhaps the new system will be able to let you edit that screen and not potentially cause other problems.

That's odd. I tested out that screen, using the texture dir. Maybe ASGS doesn't check the textures dir, so long as the file in Artwork is what it expects.
