For those of you who have balked at the complexity in getting an Allegiance Server set up, you may now rejoice.
A new installer has just been posted which significantly streamlines the installation of Allsrv and TAG.

The updated installer is available here: http://www.freeallegiance.org/downloads/Se...lsrvSetupR5.exe

I just tested the installer on a new system:Installed Windows 2003Ran Windows AutoUpdate/rebooted a few times until it was currentRan the AllsrvSetupR5.exe installer, and chose to install the optional TAG along side it with both configured as servicesStarted the TAG service (which started the Allsrv service)
Players saw the game, joined it, played, ended, and saw the game post its statistics to ASGS without the need for admins to muck around in DLL hell.

I hope this simplified server setup process entices those of you with low-latency connections to host an Allegiance gameserver. If you'd like your IP address cleared, send me a PM.

That package has an old school version of AllSrvUI (created December 2006) which doesn't have options for core or allow empty teams. If it had the UI that comes with theR4 binaries (created April 2008) it would make installing a LAN server easier. Just saying.

Very good point, Turkey.
I will update the installer later today to include this.

Thanks!

I've updated the installer with the R4 AllsrvUI.exe
There was no R5 version of AllsrvUI.exe since nothing changed in AllsrvUI from R4 to R5.

Thanks again for pointing this out, Turkey!
