Let's start from here ...

Start -> Run -> 'cmd' -> 'ipconfig'.

1) What is your PC address?
2) What is the Gateway address?
3) What do you get if you put the Gateway address into the address bar of your browser?

check your router's documentation or website for the default password. If it has been changed from the default (and you don't know what it was set to), then you'll probably have to do a hard reset on the unit to put it back into its default setting. How this is done is also in the documentation or website. (It's usually a button you need to press but the exact procedure can vary from one manufacturer to another.)

Router password ... the defaults depend on the manufacturer... admin/admin works .. admin/password
admin/<no password> ... those are the ones I have seen.

If you hit <cancel> do you get a screen that tells you the model?
Are you sure you can't find the box? Netgear and Actiontec would be two of the more likely candidates and if you can't figure out the password you will need the documentation on doing a 'hard reset' to get the default password back.
